My dd allergist says that everyone is unique so what works for one does not work for another. He suggested trying the different OTC pills and see which one works better. Also whether something is effective or not depends on the season. You may have to change pills with the seasons. I know, not much help :)

There was some advice he gave us that maybe will help you:

1. During allergy season, wash hair before bed. Wash out the pollen that's been blown into your hair all day.
2. Change pillowcases frequently; daily if possible.
3. Keep pets out of the bedroom at all times.
4. Air filter for bedroom
5. Keep on schedule for medicines, even OTC ones.

It is true that different drugs work for different people. I have found that Claritin or the generic Loratadine works best for me. My 2 sons both prefer Allegra. Zyrtec is another available OTC. All 3 are available in generic form so try 1 and if you don't like it--try another. I also have a prescription nasal spray--Nasonex to use if I am really congested. Doc also gave me an inhaler to use if I get to wheezing when I breath--which I do. Prescription eyedrops--Patanol-really help when the watery, itchy eyes take over. This early spring is really tough this year for allergies!
