Sellers cancel all the time, especially if the bids are to low....I have even seen people cancel AFTER the end time...If you don't like the fact that a seller has that option, just don't bid on their auctions.

So I should have wrote down the name of who said they have no dogs in this fight because it made me smile and I am likely to walk around repeating that phrase for a few days. Hadn't heard it in a long time, so thank you. Anyway my dogs are elsewhere too, but opinions are something I always seem to have.
I agree that it is in bad form to just out and out cancel without any warning (and especially since the seller kept adding and adding with each bid, rather than saying something like "hey, I really need higher bids or else I can't give this stuff away"). There aren't really "rules" on this site regarding that, just an understanding of the way that most people have done things over the years. Nothing is set in store and the seller does have the option to walk away. It isn't going to win her bidders in future auctions as most people will take note of it and remember it later on. Ultimately she has the right to do that if she so chooses, just like someone who lists something on another auction site can still cancel the auction up until the end.
What bothers me is the "be quiet" comments. Really? Will you be telling the rest of us to be quiet too? Because the last time I checked we all have the right to have and share our opinions here. And we will!
I can only hope that those comments were a temporary lapse in judgement and we'll see a swift apology. That's my thoughts anyway. 12|2|besides what some of you think. i am not asking to be begged to stay. if i wanted to i would, obviously. i was merely posting i was leaving as to notify my freinds and people i have had and do have business transactions going on with that i will not be on here anymore and that smiles insane behavior was the last straw and desciding factor to leaving. i could not do a mass email as i do not save all email addresses of the people that i deal with so it was to inform them and why. thanks to all that emailed me i appreciate your concern and that you have had terrible experiences with smiles as well. good luck to everyone in everything they do in life, good health. I don't really want to keep this going, but would like to comment. I was bidding on the auction that Betty cancelled, and think it was wrong of her since she didn't post she has the right to cancel. I buy items on E-bay, and often get them way cheap. The sellers on there can't just cancel the listing because they don't have enough bids. While I know this isnt E-bay, there should be some rules put in place. When you start an auction, you are taking the chance that it may sell for less then you want. I don't think any auctions should be cancelled. Just my opinion.
