13 0|0|Question concerning garage/rummage sale|DE01740|DESimunek@yahoo.com|12:28:27|02/26/2012|

I am going to be selling hardbound books and paperback books at my city's local rummage sale. All the books are in good
condition, with their bookjackets clean and not torn. Regular retail for the books is $20.00 and up. They are
from well know authors like Danielle Steele, James Patterson, Sandra Brown, Sidney Sheldon, etc... Is asking $10.00
per hardbound book and $5.00 for a paperback book too much?

Thank You

Debbie 1|1|My opinion...if you want a 'fair' price for your books. you'd be better off listing them at half.com or something like that....garage sales I've been to, the books are maybe $1 for the hardbacks, 25c or 50c for paperbacks...|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|12:30:49|02/26/2012|

2|2|I agree with saint6811. Stuff goes CHEAP at Rummage Sales! People don't expect to pay much. |missy|lovetotrade@hotmail.com|12:47:30|02/26/2012|

You really need to find a better place to sell them. Check out the going price for each book on Ebay, to give you an idea.

You could also consider donating them to a charity and getting a tax receipt.

Besides I have LOTS of books...shipping would be outrageous to sell to halfprice books, etc... Any books leftover
I plan to donate to the local library. But I would like to get a bit of money for them rather than just donate
all of them.

Thank You

Debbie 5|4|doubt you'd get more than $2 for a hard cover..|sneakers1234|ross417@msn.com|13:42:20|02/26/2012|

when our church runs a rummage sale, we say no books to be donated because we are frequently stuck with them. 13|4|Honestly...|sunriver|sunriver@gmail.com|22:35:29|02/27/2012|

I read every day and love books. They are the first thing I look for when I go to yard/rummage sales. If I saw $5-10 price tags, I would keep walking. Unless it is something super special (out of print, hard to find, non-fiction), the most I spend is about $2. You'll probably do a lot better putting $2 price tags on them and selling in volume. If you try to ask for $10, you might sell one or two and that would probably not be worth your time.

My favorite rummage sale has $1 hardbacks, .50 paperbacks. When that one pops up I buy books by the box full.
6|1|If these were current best-sellers, you might get $10------but old stuff that has been around for a couple of years would barely get you $1/ $.50 and even that is high|suezz|clearys@comcast.net|14:16:51|02/26/2012|

And these were best sellers. It doesn't seem to matter if they are hardcover or paperback. They all come out in paperback sooner or later.

I had alot that was left over which I ended up donating.

I was just looking through my box of books that I have now and I only paid $4.49 for the many of the best seller ones like Daniel Steele. I bought these at Costco. 8|2|books here go for .25 to $1|carmenanderson|cloudcars@verizon.net|16:50:07|02/26/2012|

Have you considered paperbackswap? Email me if you'd like an invite. Of course, going this route wouldn't get you any $.

I usually only have hard cover books and I'am lucky to even get .25 a piece for them. I have even went as low as .10 each to just get rid of them but usually end up taking them to the library. It all depends if you get the right type of people looking. 12|4|Books are always a hard sell. Hardcover of current/recent might get you 2-3 bucks. Paperbacks - .25-.50 each. a place like Cash4books? http://cash4books.net/index.php?ref=111142

You can look up prices and they pay postage. I will say that they don't usually take romance, but they do pay PayPal.
