My grandma used to keep a jar of it to cook with and I do now too. Why throw out all that good fat? It makes chicken taste so good and when I get hungry for a fried egg, nothing beats bacon grease. Your dinner sounds too good!! 10|3|Well I don`t know about good, but those pork brats were out of this world. Only had a large bowl of strawberries w/blueberries and some cheese today. I am still starved. Just finished eating a whole milk yogurt.

On the bacon grease, I not only have one mason pint jar, but two. If I cook any more bacon, will have to get out a third jar. YUMM
The pan still have a bunch of bacon grease in it, which I could just eat it that way.

I love my fried eggs with my homemade raw butter. YUMMM

Or better yet, coconut oil. Yes..

I just got a NEW recipe tonight from my farm group, for making yogurt in crockpot. I just may have to try this one. :)

~Judy in MI~ :) After working all day in the cold, I need tons of good fats. 11|4|can't find whole milk yogurt anywhere!|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|23:22:17|01/18/2012|

I wish the stores around me carried it, its all non-fat or low fat, ugh! Maybe I should learn how to make it, it sounds hard to do though.

Also, the whole milk at the store is more expensive than the skim, 1 or 2 percent, have you ever noticed that? It is almost like they are trying to prohibit people from drinking whole milk by making it more expensive than the others. At least it is more pricey where I live. I rarely buy milk at all unless my daughter wants it for a recipe but I noticed the prices and thought that was curious.

I've never had homemade raw butter, that sounds amazing! I love my coconut oil too, right now I am using Kelapo and I really like it a lot. I used Nutiva for a long time but I am sticking with Kelapo for now.

My uncle visited from Wisconsin a few months back and brought some raw polish sausage that was fantastic, I forget the brand but boy was it ever good. I really like the hot italian sausage a lot, could eat that every day. Once I made a low carb meatloaf with hot and sweet sausage, added more fennel and cheeses and served it with marinara. My husband about passed out he liked it so much...hmm I should make it again soon. 13|5|You can`t find Stonyfield in any of your stores?? If not, start bugging them and filling out their order slips at the customer service desk.|driller|harj@frontier.com|23:35:34|01/18/2012|

I had to do this with the stonyfield whole milk ice cream. It took me over six months, but they finally started stocking it.

Now the stonyfield is the only one that I know of that is whole milk though. I think some of the stonyfield yo baby also are.
So check out or call all your stores to see if they carry it. I do know that Meijers has the quarts of plain, and vanilla whole
milk and also the single serve whole milk. The single serve they only make two that are whole milk, Chocolate and strawberry.
The used to make blueberry whole milk, but discontinued it. That was my favorite. So now, have to buy the quarts and just
put my own frozen or fresh fruits in.

Well, I refuse to buy any milk at any store. I get mine right out of the bulk tank at the farm that I am a member at. Is raw.
In the winter months, cream is very hard to come by, so have to skim it off the top of my milk and then make the butter.

My great grandma, used to do this. She lived to be a healthy 97 yrs old. She never ate any trans fats or margarine. Butter or lard
only, or bacon grease.

I have a bunch of grass fed fat right now, that I need to render to make some tarrow and lard. Tarrow comes from beef and lard comes
from pork.

Sorry for going on & on.

~Judy in MI~ :) You know, if you reall love coconut oil, check your freezer section at your stores and see if they carry So Delicious
fudge bars. YUMMM They are made with coconut milk..... Very pricey though. And YES, they are organic. I try to eat organic as much
as possible, plus all grass fed beef, pork, etc. No nitrates in any of the meats I get. But I am one of the very lucky ones to be able
to have Kris as my farm gal. She takes very good care of her herd. 14|6|haven't seen stonyfield but then I haven't looked either|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|15:05:39|01/19/2012|

I will have to keep an eye out for it, I kinda gave up on whole milk items and real cream ice cream when walmart stopped carrying LeCarb ice cream. Such a shame, it was truly low carb and really good too.

I was curious about the so delicious brand and on their site, I found a printable coupon last night. I think it was .55 off any dairy free item? And my fav store is supposed to carry it, according to the store locator so I am gonna take that coupon and look for it.

I agree about eating the beef and pork fat, it is how our grandparents ate and my grandma lived to 93 yrs old. She would never use any margarine. I'm a heart patient (CHF) and when I am hospitalized, they give me that awful "heart patient diet". Good grief, it is all carbs!!! No salt and tiny tubs of promise spread, UGH. As if that is healthy for me!! I always get real food snuck in so I can actually eat something and go to the vending area to get salt packets! lol I've had many heated discussions with the nutritionists in my hospital room and usually ended up with them shaking their heads and leaving! lol They just don't get it. This low-fat doctrine is only about 30 some years old and along with it, we have had an increase in heart disease and diabetes. Which is exactly what will happen if you base your diet on carbs.

My blood pressure is naturally low, dangerously low when I go into surgery and I need all the salt I can get. I buy the himalayan pink salt now and it is fantastic, like I never had salt before, love the flavor!

I wish I had a farmer friend! My friend is planning a huge garden this year so at least I will have plenty of goodies to pick from this summer and fall. 8|1|hubby & i shared a big baked potato|smiles|mrsbettygreen@yahoo.com|22:34:38|01/18/2012|
