Lee :)

I'm not sure who is the winner though because two mentioned it but was in a long list of names, I may have two codes, I will see. :)

The story behind my middle name: My Dad was a musician/guitarist/songwriter and in 1968, he was friends and played music with Jerry Lee Lewis. Jerry jokingly mentioned to my Mom that she should name the baby after him. Well the baby, me, turned out to be a girl. Since Jerry was inappropriate and also because my grandmother recommended LaCinda, they just gave me the middle name (Lee) because my Dad promised him.

My Dad was thrilled to be playing with Jerry and had tried for years to make it in the music industry. My Dad traveled everywhere and worked with others too, including Jayne Mansfield...however he never made it himself. He appeared on some shows in Nashville and even cut a record and had one contract, in all those years. His single got played for a while on local stations in Nashville and then fizzled out.

My Dad passed away with nothing more than a dusty box of watches, mostly broken ones. He has been gone 7 years now and I miss him dearly. I wish I had his songs to play here for you, but the single is long gone...not sure who in the family has a copy of it anymore...and the other music is recorded on the old reel-to-reel tapes. But in honor of my Dad, here is song from Jerry Lee Lewis, a hit from that year, 1968:

I'm about to go through his box of things again to organize them so I guess he has been on my mind a lot. :) 3|3|I know that feeling...|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|16:47:20|01/01/2012|

my dad has been gone 6 and a half. Was just talking with my mom about how greatful I am that while taking care of him, God allowed me time to do some needed healing in regards to him.

I'm grateful too, for the time I had with my Dad before he passed away. The night before he died, I went to the hospital to read him Psalm 91. I didn't know what to read to him so I asked a friend of mine for a suggestion. He told me to read Psalm 91 to my Dad. So I did...I held his hand and read it to him. My Dad couldn't talk but he smiled at me and after I read it, I told him "Dad, you've never been scared of anything before, don't start now." I'll never forget those few minutes and his smile. Other than the moments when my children were born, that moment with my Dad a few hours before he died is so precious to me.

A few years later during a conversation with my Mom about it, she mentioned that Psalm 91 was my Dad's favorite and he often requested her to read it to him. I was floored because I had no idea that night I went to the hospital but God knew and its amazing to me how my friend suggested it. God does work in mysterious ways and I'm so thankful we had that moment. God is very good to us all. :)
