Hello All,
We had our Family Christmas this past Saturday and had a great time. My oldest sister Cindy had some news to share with us. Her Left ventricle, which is the thickest of all the chambers, the left ventricle is the hardest working part of the heart as it pumps blood throughout the whole body) is only working at 50%.
They were doing a Stress Test on her but they wouldn't let her finish since she started having chests pain. She goes next week, to have a heart catheterization done on Wednesday. Myself and 3 of my sister's will be going to Little Rock to be there for the test.
Cindy's husband had a stroke back in August and we aren't too sure how he will handle the news if it bad. We are praying that it's NOT the heart muscle, my Dad's heart muscle was bad and he had other heart problems, this could just be gentics. Cindy is 55 years old and in great shape, eats good and exercise alot.
I would appreciate it if you would keep her in your prayers please.

I had a heart cath too, it was horrible. I was so scared and shaking they had to give me a bunch of valium. I'll be praying for her, I can imagine how she is feeling right now. I was 30 when my heart disease was diagnosed, my EF was 19 at the time. Is that her EF, 50? I think normal EF is 55-60 but I can't remember right now.
She must be so scared, I pray she has peace, for healing and comfort as well.
Sometimes your lifestyle doesn't prevent you from getting heart disease, mine is rare (viral cardiomyopathy) and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. Sounds like she was in good shape before this too, I'm so sorry.

I truly feel that no-one can ever have for too many prayers!!
We (myself & 3 of my other sisters) leave this Wednesday (tomorrow) to go to Little Rock to be with my sister, Cindy. Heart Diease runs in our family and one of my sister's have already gone thru this and they have her on med's only right now. Cindy did tell me that the doctors think she has already had a Heart Attack and didn't know it and HOPEFULLY they will NOT find any weak heart muscle.
Just keep her in your prayers is all I ask. One can never have too many prayers!! Thanks so much for those prayer I really apprecaite it!!

They did the Heart Cath. and there was NO BLOCKAGE! BUT they did find out that at some point a VIRUS had attacked the heart. That is why it is only pumping at 50% instead of 100%. It did weaken the heart muscle so they immediately put her on 4 different "Heart Med's" and this will help strengthen the heart and get it to pumping at normal.
We should know within the next 10 to 14 days how the med's are working. Praying that the med's will work so they won't have to do a pacemaker and/or a defibrillator.

At age 30, a virus attacked my heart (viral cardiomyopathy) and as a result I have CHF. I wasn't supposed to last more than 5 years, my ejection fraction was 19 at the time. I was sent to see a heart transplant doctor who told me I would never get one, because I was poor. That it shouldn't work that way but it just does. Its fine with me, don't want another heart but mine.
I take a lot of medications, I have a big ziploc bag full of them. I'll be on them the rest of my life. I once asked my doctor if we could try and see how I do without the pills and he told me that he's sure I'd be in ICU within a week. You can recoup from this type of damage, some do but not all. Very individual thing, I also had no blockages either and its hard to explain this type of heart disease to others because its rare. They think you got it from your lifestyle or you need bypass surgery, etc. Well, I'm still here after 13 years so I'm thankful for each day.
I pray she can find intelligent doctors who will take the time to make sure her medications are just right and to know what to do for her. My case puzzles a lot of doctors and even my cardiologist said that it is so complex, he has to read my chart for half an hour when I leave. I've seen plenty of doctors and I can tell you that it is so important that her doctor be sharp, caring and willing to do the extra research.
My prayers for her, I can imagine how she is feeling. One day you are healthy, on top of the world and the next, you are so sick and weak. It may take a while but her heart can rest with the medications reducing the workload and her heart can become stronger.
