tried 4 different stores including quick trip gas pump and none would take the cards.anyone used them in st louis?wish they would go back to checks

Do you mean the cashier refused to try or that they tried and the machine "declined" them? I've had trouble with lower value cards being declined and ran into a smart cashier who was a couponer and understood how to get them to work. She said that when the value is lower like that the cashiers have to enter a $3 payment and THEN swipe the card. Like with a gift card you can just swipe the card and if there's not enough on the card it deducts how much is on the card and then shows the balance you owe ... on these low value cards you can't do that. So, if the card reader declines it again ask the cashier to enter a $3 payment, swipe the card, then tell you your new balance.
I know that sounds confusing but it really does work on mine. HTH
