Yesterday i spent $50 on baking supplies. It was money i really didnt want to spend but after going thru my cupboards and going over my goodie list, i found i needed almost everything. What i did have was too old for me to even consider using like shortning 5 years old! I tossed anything expired and found my baking cupboard and pantry very bare. All during the year i shouldv been stock pilling and snatching up the deals. All year long i shouldv been preparing for this time. When margarine was. 59 last month, i shouldv bought what i needed for all my Christmas baking. When Domino sugar was on sale a few weeks ago, i shouldv run down with my $1 coupon and bought some instead of sitting on my rear till noon sipping coffee. Now iv got $50 less in my pocket cuz yep i paid. 99 for margarine and $1.99 for eggs.
Ladies, right here, right now, i am vowing to never let this happen again. I will make a point to get out every week with my sales list and coupons instead of sitting in front of the tv. Ill grab those deals and fill my shelves and cupboards, stock pile and by golly, i'm gonna be READY next Christmas with $50 still in my pocket!

Im starting right now!~

Prices have tripled this year. I was so darned mad at myself yesterday. I guess what ill do is make as much goodies as i can with what iv got cuz i just cant spend another dime with prices as high as they are right now. Even the canned milk. It was. 99 a can yesterday vs. 69 last year and it seemed like we never had the holiday sales either. I realize we have one week left, but im out of money even if butter goes on sale. I have enough now although i paid double for it. Boohoo.

6|1|I know the prices are ridiculous, I found a neat place about 10 miles from here or so, it's a shop that sells all sorts of spices, herbs, flour, oats and other things in bulk, I believe it's run by mennonites and the prices are really good, I love their bread crumbs, they are the best I've ever tried, plus I like that I can get small amounts of some spices for a cheap price, that way I don't have to worry about them going bad if I only need a little bit of something and then won't use it again for a year :) |RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|19:48:03|12/14/2011|

my brother bakes his own bread on a daily basis......and they found it several years back...now no matter who goes out that way, a list gets circulated for who needs what....they make runs out just for the basics a cpl times a year.....you are so right about the prices at it.. 8|3|I love the amish and mennonite stuff, the place here is called "The Cheese Shop" it's in Stuart's Draft, they even sell online...I did find another shop similar to theirs over by our library, but they don't have half the stuff this place has, they sell all kinds of things, even meats and cheese, cookbooks etc :) |RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|20:02:06|12/14/2011|

I LOVE their peanut brittle & just about everything else they make. Food/candy is delicious & their handiwork w/furniture & quilts is awesome! Several gas stations/convenience stores around here sell their candy but you're better off buying anything directly from the Amish's own shops as it's cheaper.
There's a store in the neighboring town owned/operated by Mennonites. It has a very large variety of goods & I love buying their stuff, from spices to candy. They sell fresh produce in the fall & I must say, it's alot better/cheaper than grocery stores. The peaches & strawberries are mouth-watering delicious.
The Amish & Mennonites are all "organic" too, fertilizing only by their w/grass-fed horses & cattle. :)

Smile... it makes people wonder what you're up to!

In my area which is mid Calif, we dont have double couponing and many stores that r somewhat cheap that i go to, wont let you use coupons so its such a big mistake that i made by not stocking up when something went on sale. A problem with the discount stores are the expiration dates. Its hard to stock up on a really cheap item if the expiration is short. Like the sweetened condensed milk. I only use it during Christmas.

and pasta. He must have gotten an ESP message from me, LOL. SHHH don't tell Teener, she has eaten where I work several times. My DH is not the head chef, but I think the food is the absolute best when he makes it. When we have family meals here (like Christmas) I am always the menu person and the shopper and the co-ordinator, LOL, he likes to pretend that he is not in charge but he is!
