Just made an appt., for hubby to see Dr., on Wed., as he has a large dark spot on his back and it's gotten bigger since 2 weeks ago, you know men they keep putting it off so now he finally wants to see a Dr., Men!!! When I first called earlier today there wasn't any appointments available until the middle of January and the I called again and someone just cancelled so needless to say I grabed it up. You talk about small miracles.
And a very dear friend (hubby went to kindergarten with him so he's known him since he was 5 years old) and it seems he has a problem with his liver they were finally able to take a piece for a biopsy as he kept filling up with fluids and they couldn't get to it for fear of him bleeding. He's suppose to find out something today. Been very nervous for days now. So any prayers for them both would be appreciated. I am a firm believer in prayers.

Seborrheic keratoses which is common skin growths that grow during adult life. They are harmless and will never become malignant and they are inherited. So Thank you Jesus and for all the prayers. One worry lifted.
Our friend is still in hospital, they are trying to get him stabilized and possibly move him to Rochester, NY once he's stablized. Seems his bladder and kidney's are creating some problems along with the liver problem. He didn't recognize anyone but his wife yesterday and they aren't sure why he's lost the ability to recognize anyone. So the worry goes on.
Please keep the prayers coming. And I thank you all very much.

hospital, my hubby took them into the hallway so she wouldn't hear. Dr., doesn't seem to be telling her much. Seems like his liver is not working the way it should. Plus he has a plugged artery. Dr., told the sons that he could live as long as 4-6 year in very poor health and no strength or as little as 2 weeks. They are not sure. The hospital in Syracuse doesn't seem to do much of anything for him, I told hubby that it seems they know they can't do anything for him so they are just making him comfortable. Now the wife doesn't know this and I feel this is not up to us to tell her so we will keep quiet about all this to her. She seems to be in pretty good spirits. I think with her being such a saint and she sure is with all the stuff she put up with him that God is slowly letting her adjust to the idea so it won't be a complete shock to her when he goes. He did seem to perk up some when he saw us and looked a little better on Sunday. Our friend says he would like to go to the Bahamas in Feburary, so we told him that if you eat like your suppose to you will get strong and we will go with them both in April. Don't know how we can afford this after just coming back from our cruise. Can only afford one cruise a year not two. But he perked up with that knowing we all would go. So it gives him an incentive and maybe hope. I felt so sorry for him, we took him for a walk and after a very short distance he had to sit down and he started to shake as if he were freezing, I asked if he wanted me to get him a blanket he said no, as he wasn't cold, but this is what the liver does and makes him do that. He said he could feel the liver doing something, I'm not sure what and it makes him really shiver.
So that's the update on our dear friend. Please continue the prayers, I've prayed, begged and pleaded for God to help him get through this and get healthy. Really appreciate the prayers. Thank you everyone.

Garnette member 26|2|Joy, I dont know what he is experiencing in regards to what he 'feels', but I have never heard of the liver or it's functions being specifically 'felt'....he may have some discomfort or pressure in that area if the liver is enlarged, etc...Also, in regards to his current treatment regimine, it is possible that the docs are observing his living will wishes with no aggressive treatments.....so while it may look like they are doing 'nothing', they may be doing just what he wishes. that he could feel it inside doing something and then he gets the shivers. I googled anything and everything to find out why he would be shivering. But could find nothing. He has nothing at this stage of the game of not wanting anything done. But they don't seem to be doing anything and they are both baffled as to the wait for Dr., and any explaination.
Which they don't have at least that's what our friends are thinking. But the Dr., did go out and tell the sons of the length of time etc. and not her. She wanted to know what they said and the boys told her differently as well as my hubby did when she asked what the boys told him. Why the Dr., wouldn't tell her isn't clear to me. But she wants to do everything possible to keep him alive and his wishes are to stay alive and have them do anything and everything to do so.
So there is no problem with communication on that aspect.
I just talked with her a little while ago. And she said they want to keep in the hospital a few more days and then they want him to go to Rochester, NY to the hospital there and have a consultation with the Doctors there. This poor man is so thin and weak, I have no idea and neither does she how she's going to get him to Rochester. It's a little over an hour drive. And then to drive back home. None of us understand just what's going on. But in the end I do believe he is on short time. I wish to God I'm wrong. I've know him for 53 years and don't want to lose him. And hubby has known him for 70 years. So when I say a dear friend they most certainly are.
But I just wanted to get an idea of the shivering part. It lasted only about 1-1 1/2 minutes then it was gone and he was ok. But it happens several times. Baffling. I tried to tell as much as I know about the shivering that might give you some idea. But that's all the info I have.

So, if the shivering is related to the liver issue, this might be an answer.....of course, the docs would have to diagnose, I just put the two key words together to search.
If the docs are unsure as to what the diagnosis is, they may not know how to proceed for treatment....sometimes the diagnostics can take some time, they start with one thing and by process of elimination based on results, they try different diagnostics until they can find an answer.
As to the information not being given to the wife, it sounds to me that he and the sons are keeping the info from her.....that is their own family dynamic and you may not be able to change it. Perhaps your DH could speak to his friend and persuade him to allow the docs to tell his wife the facts thus far.

him go home, she will get some nurse's assistance daily. But she told hubby, noone even the Dr. tells her anything. I have never in my whole life heard of such a thing. I certainly would make sure I could find out what was going on. Maybe she doesn't persue it. Not sure. Both me and hubby are flabergasted as to what is going on. And we find he's going home tomorrow and she isn't sure why they are letting him go. I really think that they feel there is nothing that can be done and just sending him home. Hope I'm wrong, but everything seems to indicate as such. I never heard of such going on with Dr., and patient. I feel it's up to their Sons to say something, they told my hubby not to say anything to her of what they had discussed with him and to we have to respect their wishes and certainly don't want to upset them neither.
That's why we not say anything. Because we were asked not to.
