A friend of mine Diana that lives across the street from me just lost her job and now has no income. She is signing up for unemployment but its gonna take awhile for that to kick in and from what they are saying she isnt going to get much. She signed up for food stamps but they denied her for this month and told her to reapply next month. She has 3 boys ages 2, 6 and 10 and has no way to give them a christmas this year. Whatever money she does get coming in from unemployment she will have to use for bills. She has no family around here and I am like her only friend. She tried signing up with churches around here but they told her they have their families picked already. She also tried signing up with the school and they told her same thing. She is desperate and dont know what to do. I was wondering if anyone on here would be willing to help her kids with christmas whether it be send a present, giftcard or something. I would greatly appreciate any help you could give her and I know she would too. She doesnt know I am asking for help for her kids I didnt want to say anything to her if I cant get help and she be let down more. This way if we can help then it would be a great surprise :) I can find out more of what her kids like after I find out if we can help. Have your friend contact a Shared Harvest Office and ask who is their local foodbank.
At Christmas time, the main offices for the cities do not turn people away.
It' worth a try - hope it works out.
