It scared me half to death because I thought for sure he had a stroke. He had a bunch of seizures and started sweating BUCKETS then turned stiff as a board and lay there with his eyes wide open staring up at me. But his right arm was curled up funny on his chest and he wouldn't resond to anything I said or did so I called 911. They tested and his sugar was 18!!!!!!!! They hurried up and gave him an IV and he came to in a few minutes. The bed was a swimming pool and he was very disoriented for a long time but he's here with me now and we could sure use some prayers that he will stay right here with me for a long time to come! Thanks.

Please leave me feedback if we have had a favorable trade and I will do the same for you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband and I'm glad he is ok now, praying he will be ok and not suffer another diabetic coma.

My previous husband (I was widowed in 2001), he had diabetes and I watched him suffer for ten years, it is a horrible disease. Now my son has it, was recently diagnosed and I see him suffering it too, breaks my heart. I know a lot of diabetics who do low carb which seems to help, sometimes even reduce the amount of medications they need to take. My son feels best on a low carb diet, wish I would have known that for my husband.

Take care and you're in my prayers. 3|1|This happen to my dad last yr...very scary|shelly0418|michelle0418@centurytel.net|11:59:06|11/22/2011|

My parents live next door. My mom called me scared to death at 2 am. She cant wake up my dad.
I ran down the driveway in the dark as fast as I could. (there is a few acres between us )
Thank god it was just from his sugar, not a stoke. I too thought he had a stoke. He too was ok
once a IV was put in. But a day later he went to the ER. He almost died. His potassium levels
where way to high. That is why his blood suger dropped so low. Hes had sugar for yrs.

He is on very plain diet now and doing good.

So have your hubby follow up with his doc to make sure everything is ok.

I know how scared you felt. Makes your own heart almost stop. I am still saying prays for
you and your family.

Michelle

I am glad your husband is ok, but I had a lady that worked for me at the school and she was such a nice lady, she had diabetes very badly and didnt monitor her diet at all, she was on her way to work on morning and had a diabetic seizure and was involved in a head on collision, she didnt survive the accident. this happened about 3 months ago.

He was laying down on our grandwon'S bed because our dd is in from Pitts. and has our bed. I went into the room for something and there he was on the floor, the sheets SOAKED and he was out of it again. I had Jennifer grab a Dr.Pepper and his tester and we got him sitting up somehow enough to drink a little and he slowly and I mean lkowly came around. He had dirtied himself and was so embarrassed and Jennifer cried to see her Dad like that. All Keith talks about now is dying. He NEEDS to see a Dr. and we need prayers desperately!!!! The grandkids are worried sick and Kevin isn't sleeping well. I don;t know what we;d do without him.

my sister n law had 2 episodes like this and on the last episode we lost her. Even though
he came out of it..i think he needs to be seen. with your situation you guys should have medicare
or similar I hope??? It's scary...and it needs to be looked at asap. I'm glad he is ok...but
don't just be thankful...use this as a warning.... WE know now...but it's too late. : ( 21|2|Sue, if he is refusing to see a doctor for this, you may have to get a bit tough with him.....the next time this happens, call the ambulance and have him taken to the hospital, then he will get some intervention and evaluation needed to see why he is bottoming out on his blood sugars....he will be unconscious, so he wont be able to refuse. (sorry, sounds devious, but he really needs medical attention...this is nothing to fool with!)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:34:35|11/29/2011|

Having another episode just a week after the other one is not good as it means his diabetes is obviously not being controlled properly or something more is going on.
And it has to be terrifying for the young kids & grandkids to see this when it happsns, so for their sakes & yours, he needs to get in to see a dr.
Prayers for all of you. :)

that is what caused his sugar to go down so much. When he went into the Er
the doc told him they never seen levels that high. People die when that happens.

Thank god my dad was ok. This happened about a yr ago. He has to have blood work
done about twice a month to keep everything managed.

Due to this problems my dads kidneys only work at about 18 percent. Which is not good.

So there might be other reasons why your hubbys sugar keeps dropping. PLEASE have him
see a doc. I was hate to see you or kevin lost him. Make him go see a doc !

Praying for you and your family.

He's going to be furious with me when I wake him up to tell him but that's too darn bad! I spoke to the nurse at his doctor's office and she too said he should have been taken to the E.R. I don't know why the medics didn't take him when I called the ambulance last week. They didn't even suggest it. But now he is burning up with fever and he said his kidneys hurt last night and he was in terrible pain. Plus he has a bad cough. With his leukemia, maybe he shouldn't have gotten a flu shot?? Anyway thank you all so much for your support....I've been a wreck.

I think you are right about the flu shot too. My doctor and I decided it was too dangerous for me to have a flu shot so I haven't had one in years. If you already in bad health then the flu shot is the very last thing you want to get.
I pray he is feeling better soon, hope all goes well today for him at the doctor's. 28|2|Yikes, sounds like possibly acute renal issues/Kidney infection, and possibly pneumonia (they often go hand in hand)......I would not be surprised if the doc admits him directly to the hospital from the office...do NOT let the doctor allow him to refuse, tell the doc to call the ambulance if there is any sign of resistance from your hubby.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|12:22:53|11/29/2011|

nothing too great to report. The Dr. did give him some antibiotics for his bronchitis and some pain pills for his shingles and she told him he's lost 30 lbs. since his last visit so he's going to have to adjust his insulin accordingly and start eating better and to go to the E.R. if he ever goes into a coma again. And no he shouldn't have gotten a flu shot but it's a little late for that now. He came home and fell promptly asleep sitting up on the sofa....he's just utterly exhausted. I"ll pick up his prescriptions later and hopefully he'll start feeling a little better. I guess I'm glad he went but I expected a more thorough examination. Not even any blood work!!!

I know someone who is diabetic and has to be really careful about making sure they eat regularly or else their Metformin tanks their sugar way down. You didn't say how long it had been since he'd seen the doctor last. But being sick too can affect him since you tend not to eat well when you're sick. Here's hoping he's on the mend and done scaring you for a long, long time.

Thank God he didn't injure himself or anyone else. Apparently Keith had been having an argument with our daughter in the Lowe's parking Lot about her diabled car. She walked off and that's the last thing he remembered until being brought home by a friend who just happened to be near the accident. So apparently his blood pressure played a part in all this too. He was on a street he would never normally be on and crashed into a VACANT house thank GOD. His sugar was 30. He could have been on a busy highway or had the kids in the car with him.........whew when I think of how lucky he was. Maybe this was a wake-up call???? He had fasting bloodwork taken today and has another Dr. appt. on Tuesday. Somehow we have to find the money to now get our car fixed. I can't take much more.

I understand how important it is to feel the independence & freedom w/driving privileges, but I'm sure your husband wouldn't want to risk bringing harm to loved ones or the innocent loved ones of others. :(
I'm sure it's only temporary & would be better if he were to voluntarily w/draw from driving for now than to have the cops file a report w/the DMV & have the DMV make it mandatory, kwim?

Smile... it makes people wonder what you're up to!

Please identify yourself in 1st email w/name/username. Due to recent problem trades, if I haven't traded w/you before, I will probably require you send your end 1st or I'll need LEGIT trade references/feedback. I will be happy to provide the same. IF you plan to hold your end til you've received mine, I will need to know that IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE trade is finalized.

If you're happy w/our trade, please leave feedback for me at:

I'm so sorry, you must be so worried! I'll be praying for you all, I hope he won't drive until he is feeling better. I'll pray for protection, healing and also for you to have peace.
Take care. 39|3|I don't think I would let him out of my sight until you see the doctor on Tuesday -- something is not right. I have been a diabetic for along time and there is something wrong with him inside|cashcoll|cashcoll@yahoo.com|12:09:14|12/03/2011|

and I just PRAY that it is something that can be fixed with med's and not serious. I will continue to keep him in my prayers and you as well.

Hang in there!!

some small stores within walking distance and school is only 4 houses away for Kevin. We WILL get to the bottom of all of all of this. My flagging Christmas spirit cannot be smothered completely thanks to you kind, caring, generous folk.

Please leave me feedback if we have had a favorable trade and I will do the same for you!
