It's an expensive one that stand alone on the counter, not sure I could use one on the stovetop. My doctor suggested it to make home cook meals quicker, because otherwise it just takes too long to cook after work and homework. Everything cooks in minutes! LOVE IT! Would love to find a bunch of good recipes somewhere though.

I associate that appliance with kitchen disasters even after real disasters like setting the main dish--moussaka--on fire on one occasion and chile-pepper tear gas effects (wheezing dinner guests, smoke alarms, and food on the spicy side) on another. I can only assume it's due to that tv program, seen at an impressionable age.

Let's start a kitchen disaster thread! 8|2|Been using one since I was 21.. Love my PC|pattyo|pattyolc@aol.com|03:55:49|11/19/2011|

10|2|Oh my, lol! I can only recall one kitchen disaster.....I was boiling eggs for egg salad, forgot they were on the stove.....the water boiled away, and the eggs exploded like M80's all over the kitchen :S Just grateful there wasnt a fire! But what a horrid mess to clean up...walls, ceiling, cabinets, floor.....oy vay.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|10:01:16|11/19/2011|

it locks in place so you don't have to worry about it blowing it's lid. that's always been my fear of the pressure cooker... I also recall seeing something a long time ago about it just wiggling all over on the stove when under pressure... I would go nuts if it did that. I love the electric one.
