The doctor has officially said I have Gastroparesis. Basically my stomach has a very difficult time emptying after a meal, so I've been in a lot of pain all the time because of it. What it amounts to is my stomach and digestional track are permanently broken. I have another appointment with the doctor because I still think there is another problem that he needs to look at. The only medication I can take for this current problem isn't available here, it has to be purchased from Canada, so of course insurance won't cover it. It runs around $63 for 100 pills, but once we know if it works or not, I get get 300 for $93. I have to take this pill before every meal forever. It could be worse, the medication could be a lot more expensive.
I went to the store today and bought lots of seafood (Talapia and Cod -- I couldn't believe how expensive fish is! I wanted Mahi, flounder or something else, but not at those prices! Really! I live in Florida, you would think it would be cheaper! I also bought pork and other lean meats, because I have to lose weight and start eating lean meals, the fat in my diet will just make me really ill. So I'm down 10 lbs in about 3 weeks now... mostly because food is not appetizing and I'm not eating much, but also because I'm eating better. As a heavy person, it's really an odd feeling to not be hungry... I just wish it was something reverseable causing this.
I'm exhausted all the time, but I'm trying to look on the bright side. I have started to do the christmas shopping for the kids... I love this time of year... Why is it that all the toys are more interesting to me than to them! I really can't wait to play with what I bought on xmas day! LOL
I also have to start planning for thanksgiving as well, I haven't given it much thought, but the house is a mess and everyone is coming here, so I better pull it together soon. My mother in law is hounding me for the menu. She said she's picking up a good part of it. I'll pretty much be in charge of the turkey, the stuffing, the gravy and the mashed potatoes... all which I can handle with my eyes closed. I think I have perfected turkey dinners after all these years
I will eventually be trying to find time to trade a bunch of coupons that I have, since I can really use coupons for things I can eat. I'll have to work on a list. My grocery bill has gotten much more expensive. It does cost more to eat healthy.
Thanks for listening to me gripe... I really am thankful for my family, my job (despite the fact that it's a mess right now), my house, etc... just wishing the health part was a bit better! Also finding the holidays to be a bit hard because it was Christmas last year that Mom told me she found the lump and now she's been gone since May and I keep thinking about her.
Now to go figure out what to make for dinner at 9 pm.. my family has not figured out that I'm not interested in food, they keep waiting for me!
