my bariatric doctor is making me do it before he performs the lap band. so he tells me i need to make a certain weight, and i did! and im all excited thinking now he will put me
on the bariatric powder for 2 weeks then i will be in surgery. but no! i get told now i have to get my BMI down.....so now i hafta loose another 28 lbs i could just cry!!
hello i need the surgery to loose weight and it is pure torture being made to loose
weight before i loose weight??? wtf??? BMI sucks!!! if i was an inch taller i woulda had my surgery by now!. i mean i obviously have an eating disorder thats why i need the operation
as a tool to help me. i would not have gotten this big if i didnt have a problem.
soemtimes i just think, screw it im happier fat! atleast i get too eat! but i am miserable being fat too LOL..............:(:(:(

Sorry u have to go thru all that. I know what hell it is for you. Are they at least helping you lose weight? With an eating disorder, a person can't lose it without help it seems. Please dont give up. Youv gone so far. Just try and keep looking forward and s positive outlook on your better future. You can be a beacon for the rest of us who also battle thos disorder. Please keep in touch with your PROGRESS. How did you lose your weight? I commend you for that. They have reasons for wanting to lose a certain amt. before your surgery.

some is water mind you. and joy i know i hear that from everyone. but ive been here before many times i lose so much then poof i give up and it all comes back on plus more. i see
it as a tool i need discipline lol and it makes u do it, although u must have some urself or you will just stretch out the pouch and make it useless.
and ya know what makes me mad? losing weight people treat me better even my boyfirend is more attentive to me! pisses me off, being treated different just for losing weight.

more back to me, on a lighter note even know im gonna be in intense pain from this, i have been approved for a total upper body lift. the doc said it will be easier for me to exercise after the surgery if i get rid of my big gut. so im all for it but man i bet its gonna be painfull.
i have my days where i just wanna binge and eat everything and to curb that i have a fun size candy bar and it helpd big time! if you totally deny yourself you will just blow it totally. a little will help your cravings and keep yu chugging along. i just have to keep thinking, ican do it i can do it :)

I understand you though! I struggle with weight myself and I wish I had answers for both of us. Several years ago I interviewed a woman who had the surgery and took off 300 lbs. check this out:

I have been over weight all my life but after chemo and because of my age, my wt. and my eating habit has gotten so out of control
It has affected my health and my mental state. The only successful way iv lost weight was a combination of limiting carbs, drinking lots of water and exercising. I lost 40 pounds and then saw a picture of myself that someone took. I wasnt happy with what i saw after all that work and i quit caring and gave up. I gained it all back so easy and have been depressed and at a loss since. You have to have self disapline and convicion. I agree totally about people treating u different after u lost weight. I saw that too and resented it.

Thats a lot you lost already! Congratulations! I know how hard it is too, I lost 140 on low carb. Low carb was the only thing that really worked for me. I've been battling my weight since I was young, I know it is so hard to deal with. What I don't understand -- typically if a bariatric patient needs to lose over 100 pounds, the lapband is not the answer. If you have lost 70 and need to do 28 nmore... why didn't your doctor recommend a bypass? I'm sure you would have already gotten that by now. I had to lose 10% of my weight prior to my surgery to make sure that my liver was pliable. Apparently that's the last place fat goes, and the first place fat leaves.
I total identify with your ability to lose... and gain it back... and over again. I had been there a hundred times myself.
Right now I am 4.5 years out from my bypass. I feel GREAT. I wish I had done it when my son was younger so that I could have enjoyed playing with him more. At this moment, I am 5 pounds over what I was a few months ago and I feel it... I never used to feel it before. So I have go get rid of it -- it's still hard.
Stick with it -- believe me it's worth it. I agree that people will look at you differently and treat you differently. It's the last great discrimination and I hope to see it broken down in my lifetime. This is great... (even if it pisses you off sometimes) but what is really wonderful? YOU will look at YOU differently. You will see different kinds of clothes you can wear and enjoy; different hair styles; more confidence in yourself. I always had a lot of confidence, but nothing compared to now.

I had gastric bypass 2 yrs ago...... BEST decision I ever made in my life. Ive had no complications what so ever. I lost 130 lbs. I did however hit many snags BEFORE surgery with my insurance company. The time frame between my bariatric info meeting at the hospital and the date of my surgery was 17 months. I was sooooo frustrated!!! Hang in there and keep jumping thru their hoops..... it is soooooo worth it!!! Good luck!
