not sure what to do. I was driving and a semi truck alongside of me threw up a rock. I do not have the $500 cash out of my pocket, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I would find out how much in "cash" the replacement is (call for quotes)....I say this because I got "screwed" a few years ago. Was told the repair I needed would cost me nothing...then a few weeks later a new "rate adjustment" bill came from my ins. co. What they jacked the rates up to for me it would have been cheaper to pay "cash". I have a huge crack now (different place) from another truck throwing rocks on the highway. Was told it's to big to fix after I checked into it and was told I needed a replacement. Didn't bother because if they jacked my rates again the same as they did for a repair it would be cheaper for me to pay "cash" out of my pocket than pay the deductable and another rate hike. I've not done anything with it since it's on the passenger side and still passes my state inspection as is. Ugly to look at but I can deal with it and if I do need to replace if it cracks or gets bigger I'll just pay cash.

for all said & done and my insurance said that my replacement is covered under my comprehensive and that deductable is $500. I am so ticked off, I think the trucking company should have to pay for this, wonder if it pays to contact them?

5|3|we're in Mn too & we've never had to pay out of pocket for windshields. we've had at least 4 done over the past 20 yrs, 3 different insurance companies in that time, & everytime it has been 100% covered. we have a $500 deductible on our collision, but not for comp. have your ins agent double check, it should be covered for you.|turdra|tammyjoblake@hotmail.com|17:02:38|11/09/2011|

I understand the frustration involved in having a windshield broken. However, let me splain the truckers side(as we have dealt with this, specially since bill hauled sand and stone). Did the rock come from the truck? Can not tell you how many calls we have gotten claiming a rock came off truck when Bill was heading west...which was impossible as he hauled sand that way, and rocks east...truck was always emptied completely, and generally washed out to avoid mixing materials. Did the rock simply come up off of the road? there is no one liable at that point, as there is no telling where it came from originally....Bill had the dump truck window broken by a rock as well,...that came up from the tire of a very small car(do not remember model, just that it was so small in comparison to the car)...

I am not trying to say that if it did come OFF of the truck they are not liable, just explaining why it may not be so...Hope that makes sense... 7|5|Thank you, it's kinda like when someone hits your car in a parking lot & then flees so then you have no idea|pumamomma|pumamomma@yahoo.com|19:09:37|11/09/2011|

whose to blame.........gotta love a**h***s, just sayin. If I hit someones car in a parking lot or a rock flew up from my vehicle and hit someones window I couldn't be happy with myself not doing something about it.
