A new Aldi's just opened very close to the house and we went tonight and I got a few things.

I want to know what can you get there that is comparable to name brand?

I saw a lot of stuff I would like to try

I did get Romaine Hearts tonight for 1.99 and I pay like 3.99 at Lowes for these and we use a pack a week so that is a big savings right there and I see lettuce as lettuce but I may be wrong.

Any help would be appreciated as I really would like to buy fruit and produce there 1|1|Follow this blog...they are going to do some switch & Save tests.|bluh2oeyes|bluh2oeyes@yahoo.com|19:19:24|11/03/2011|

some are not - you will just have to try different products to see which ones you like and which ones you don't. I bought a huge head of cauliflower in there last week for 99¢ and it was just perfect. They rarely have name brand products though and do not take coupons or credit cards or checks - just cash and debit cards and food stamps.

here the produce is great. The regular things I get there are produce, butter, cheese, eggs, milk, tortilla chips, I live on the giardinara, sour cream, cottage cheese, the budig type lunch meat, they have a great spiral ham, I like the stir fry mixes, where you just add meat, canned fruit, and canned corn, soup. Those are the regular things I can think of right now.

the 2 Aldi's out of town I frequent have pretty good produce. I have peppers in my fridge I bought there end of last week..still looks great since I haven't gotten to use them yet. I have found their shredded cheese..if not used in a week or so..you need to freeze it as it seems to mold quicker than name brands but that isn't a problem for me as I usually freeze all my cheese I am not going to use immediately anyway. I used some of their mozz & cheddar sliced cheese I bought same time as peppers and no problem with it.
I found their large trash bags are cheaper and stronger than name brands so only buy them. I really like their brands and no problem with them that I can remember off hand. Oh..one time waaay back when Aldi's first opened I got some glass in the macaroni I bought. I either phoned or wrote them at that time. They were very apologetic and a few days later..wasn't expecting this at all..a UPS truck pulled up and unloaded a TON of all kinds of pasta products to me. We were set for a very long time..lol! I most always buy my coffee there now as well..cheaper and all different types..ground and whole beans etc. We really like their chicken tenders and breasts and whole turkey breasts are back for the winter months again I seen. 8|2|LOVE Aldi's!|KellyJef|burke3536@yahoo.com|08:30:56|11/05/2011|

We have shopped there for many years and have been very satisfied -- you simply can't beat their prices.

I have never had a problem with a single item.

As someone else mentioned, their spiral hams are delicious :) 9|1|I agree. Produce is very IFFY - I recommend...|anothershopper2|ejw14@hotmail.com|20:26:47|11/06/2011|

getting there the day that the truck comes. Their produces varies and the prices varies by the week I find. If the stock is good - I think the sweet potatoes for $1.49 is a great price. If the cantaloupe looks good - it is always a great price. It's not easy to find good ones though.

Other things I get: Milk - it's always cheaper than all the other stores here, including Costco. Ice cream cones at 99 cents - I thought was a great every day price. Eggs - it's pretty competitive in it's price. My mom loves their tortilla chips. She lives in a different area. Her area gets better produce overall than my area. So I agree with the previous posters that it depends on your store. 10|2|We Just Got One Opened 9/23|CUtsogn|matsonkentct@charter.net|20:53:11|11/06/2011|
