Sometimes pets have allergies that make their skin flake and look like mange. I am NOT a vet at all and don't have a bit of vet training ... I've just been a multiple pet owner all my life. Our vet has said we could give our dogs a (ONE) Benadryl when they have allergy related issues ... might help. This is the "dosage" our vet has told us for our dog. Check to see if there is a "hot line" to call in your area. In Kansas City we have Shoal Creek Animal Health (not our vet) and they told SIL the same thing about Benadryl when her puppy had an allergic reaction to a shot. He was under 10# and they still told her 1 Benadryl. They told her she could give him a Benadryl or she could bring him for a shot and they would charge her $85! If you have a clinic give them a call to see if they would say 1 Benadryl or 1/2 or some other dosage. Save money and get a good montly flea and tick product. Also vaccum every day, and throught out bag or clean vaccumm every time you vaccum. When you clean vaccumm take it outside to clean. Fleas and ticks can find there way out of the vaccum if left in the vaccum. Brush cat several times a week and make sure you get the eggs off the cat. Also if you live in a warm place give the cat bath with flea shampoo becareful doing this do not get shampoo in cats eyes.
Do not spray any harsh chemicals around it will make cat sick or kill the cat. Do not give the cat any benadryl or any thing like that. It could make cat very sick. Many vets carry frontline plus. Becarefull if you get anything from a store as many items can make cats sick even thought the stores sell something does not make it good for cat. If you do decide to take cat to vet which is a waist of money he will tell you your cat has fleas and ticks. So play it smart and talk to your vet over the phone, many times the woman at the desk will tell what they have and you can go get it with out a appointment. Its much chaaper then seeing the vet. Fleas and ticks are bad this year and when the temp. goes us an it rains alot you get fleas. Another thing is you bring them in on your clothes so make sure your grass is cut.
Cats will scratch and the more they scratch the dryer the skin gets and they loose hair. Once it gets cold or we get the first freeze they are not as bad.

If you have any questions email me I have cats and have had yur problems.

to see a vet and get a prednisone shot to stop the itching. I once had a cat that would scratch until his back was totally bleeding and if we didn't treat it he could have gotten an infection which would have just required another vet visit. He was allergic to a flea bite and this was his reaction. 11|2|use|tarasdream|jumpwoman23@hotmail.com |01:54:30|10/12/2011|
