Sooooo.....I'm on the PTA committee at my school....
We have over 700 children that attend our school and the parental involvement is minimal....
There is literally about 8 people that volunteer...
So anyway, last night was the first spaghetti dinner/ raffle/dance
It was ALOT of work putting this on...and ALL of us on the committee work 40+ full time jobs plus have one or more children.
Anyway....this woman calls the school and makes an "arrangement"...says she can't pay for the dinner OR the dance because she just can't afford it....well, fine we say okay because we don't want anyone to feel left out because of the inability to pay....
and THEN......WAIT FOR IT......she comes to the RAFFLE TABLE where myself and another member are selling the tickets and BUYS 20 RAFFLE TICKETS!!!!!!!!! (which cost $20....the cost of the entire dinner plus dance.....of which she was said she couldn't afford to pay for)
Our jaws just dropped......who does that???????
So then.....to make it worse...she winds up winning the lottery ticket prize that ALL the committee members HAD to put $10 towards to buy (another story...and I'm STILL steaming about it)......
I mean really....can one be anymore ignorant??????
I have no problem with letting someone in and eating and going to the dance for free...but to turn around and buy raffle tickets is just plain NERVY.

I'm sorry, but the raffle was not a necessity...in my eyes she took advantage of ALL of us who worked so hard to make this happen...all of us who took money out of our own pockets to buy raffle prizes...and took advantage of us.....
In all honestly, there is NO way any of our committee will ever give her freebies now since pulled this...

Maybe the money she won will feed her family, pay a bill, but a RX etc. I try not to judge, especially in these hard times. I could tell you alot of things that i have seen pulled but I will just say she isnt the only one doing this type of stuff 14|1|I have seen things like this, at my daughters school. We have a few Mom's who keep saying education is "supposed" to be free. What I keep saying it is free. The PTO is trying to raise money for the "extra" events and programs we provide for the children. I am really not sure why some parents, do not understand it.
