Have you all heard that? I was watching that new show.....Dirty Soaps today..........and it was talking about this being the last season........
i cant beleive that.........ive watched that show almost everyday.......since 1976 or 77!!!!!! thats the only show i watch...how depressing!
also they are cancelling ......Days of Our lives

Back then, AMC was scheduled to be last aired in Sept., which it was, & that OLTL will be last aired in January. So far, both are slated to be moved to online viewing - AMC possibly in January & OLTL a few mos. later.
I've been an avid CBS soaps fan since before I was in Kindergarten, growing up watching them w/my mom, so when GL & then ATWT were cancelled, I was heartbroken. Even if I wasn't able to watch them every day, I could tape them. My mom started listening to GL before it was on tv, listening to it on the radio so she's been lost w/out it. I still watch Y & R when I can but moved on to the ABC soaps in the afternoon. I feel bad for the CBS soap actors/actresses who also moved on to the other soaps for jobs only to have them in line for cancellation now too. I'm sure it's just a matter of time for General Hospital & the others as well....

It's all about money. They have to pay a lot of salaries to the actors and actresses, but on a reality or a talk show, they have low overhead compared to soaps. The bottom line is always money. On Reality shows, people many times are being made a fool. It just shows how far people will go for publicity or on a dare,. Soaps are a chance to relax and take your mind off of any problems or just to take a break from every day chores.
