My husband just came back from the dollar store carrying a "free newspaper".. He told me there was a lady who "bought" all the newspapers they had so she could take out ALL the coupons and then was giving away the extra papers that she "bought". I asked him, "Did you actually SEE her buy all those newspapers or did she just buy one and then grab ALL of them?" He just couldn't understand my question at all.. He kept saying that she bought them all and I kept asking, "yeah but did you actually SEE her buy each one?" He just didn't understand.. WE DO DON'T WE? I know that she probably only bought one yet grab ALL of them.

of the woman who "purchased the newspapers". She may have indeed purchased all the papers left at the store. So what? The only problem I would see was if the woman either left the remaining papers for other customers to pick up (which would be doubtful), or if the woman only bought one paper and stole the rest of them.

It is up to the various stores to ensure that newspapers are bought and not simply stolen by customers. As a former paper carrier, I know that stores make a bit of money, usually, if newspapers are placed in the stores and then are sold individually as the customer picks them up. Newspapers in a paperbox requires money, and those papers are more likely to be stolen out of the box at that point.

But if the woman in the OP bought all the remaining papers and was giving them away to customers (minus the coupon inserts)...oh well! It was nice of here to give them away. At least she was informing the customers of what she had done. And not everyone buys newspapers for just the coupons.

If there was a stack of say, 10 of them at the check outs, she would've had to pay $10 just to take the coupons out of each one.. I highly doubt she would've done that...

I saw something yet again, upsetting on "Extreme Couponers" last week.. the lady worked for the newspaper putting together the papers.. I heard her tell her daughter or somebody, that she was keeping 20 of the inserts for her...

I can tell you that, at least here, if a carrier is caught removing inserts from newspapers (whether the papers are paid for or not)...they will lose their contract and be fired. And the reason is because so many carriers would remove the coupons and turn around and make money off them.

5|1|I have done this before.......... I don't need 10 papers, just one, but I can use the inserts and I have purchased 10 papers and given the others away. Don't judge so quickly, lest you be judged 1st. kwim??|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|15:57:50|10/03/2011|

6|2|I bought 24 of the papers here. At various stores in my area. I gave the papers to one of the stores to keep to wrap their glassware etc...when they sell them. Who wouldn't believe (that coupons) that a person can and will buy multiple papers? Most I ever bought was 120....a LONG LONG time ago!!|Barb09|Barb0969@AOL.com|18:48:15|10/03/2011|

Did your husband say if the lady bought them @ the Dollar Store or just got them out of a paper box? If she bought them @ the Dollar Store I would think she paid for all of them. I've heard of a lot of theft tho from boxes. Some people have been caught by people watching the boxes and prosecuted.
