7 0|0|I have a ? I have never eaten parsnips. What do they taste like? I found a receipe that has those as one of the ingredients and it looks so good. It is baked chickewith red onions, carrotts etc. Is there anything comparable to parsnips? I don't know if my local store carries those.|lv2qpon|jcummins1@rochester.rr.com|16:47:17|09/13/2011|

I dont like parsnips or turnips, the texture I think if I remember correctly is like a potato texture but the strong bittery taste of a radish, you might like them they are white and looks like a big carrot except in color

6|1|If you've ever tried & liked rutabaga or kohrabi, you might like parsnips...|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|19:05:14|09/13/2011|

Rutabaga is a little more mild in flavor than parsnips or kohlrabi when bought fresh from the produce section. I've cheated a couple times & bought canned rutabaga but didn't care for it that way. I prefer fresh that I cut up & cook myself.
Parsnips is best cooked where you can eat kohlrabi & rutabaga uncooked & sprinkled w/salt if you choose (& will likely give you gas if you eat too much). You peel & cut up the parsnips as you would potatoes or rutabaga, either in slices or small cubes, & usually boil in water like potatoes.
Parsnips is excellent in soups & stews but can also be a side dish like any other vegetable.
HTH. :)
