Kathy lived in England for a whole yr she did it in her jr yr loved it It was hard on me at first but we kept in touch with her She lived with a nice couple who loved music which she was taking
To this day she travels back to England yr to see her host parnets (thats what the couple was called)
It's a chance in a life time if this is what your daughte r is going to do Please let her go
Its safe and secure its through your school at least her's were

I guess when my daughter did it, was 20 or more yrs ago So I do know where your coming from 6|4|I got one of these letters --- for my 5th grader! I just think 10 is too young to send off to a foreign country. You didn't say how old your child was. If they were older (15-17/18) then it would be more of a learning experience I'd think.|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|20:54:00|09/12/2011|

There is so much going on in the world and I don't mean just politically. Sure, a terror attack could happen but it's rare. I'm more concerned to have my daughter around strangers. There's more chance of being raped, molested or murdered. I would not be able to trust that the organization has done background checks on its staff. And what about the families they are put with? I mean, the public school system says they do background checks but child molesters are still hired. Let alone if something bad happens in a foreign country, you aren't there. That's my main concern-not being there.

A child is still a child, even if she's 15 or 16. I wouldn't be able to allow her to go. I'd rule on the side of caution on this one. Either I go with her, or she doesn't go.

I got a letter from People to People recently- only it was addressed to me at my in-laws' house! I have never lived with them or used their address for any reason. I told my MIL to throw it away. If an organization doesn't even know my correct address, then why would I want to deal with them? Makes me wonder about the credibility of the organization... 10|2|people to people (M)|kthy26|kthy26@yahoo.com|16:34:57|09/13/2011|

My son has gotten invited to do this and he does not want to do it, I am willing to let him go but he doesnt want to and he is 16. If this is the samething that he has been invited to attend its different then going to live with a host family.

You travel with a group of people and visit different sites depending on where you go. I know that the chaperones on these trips are school teachers and they do allow a few parents to travel also if you pay for your own trip. I would not be afraid at all to let my son go. Maybe you could do a little more checking in, I know they hold a very good meeting educating the parents about the trips, and the stops they will be making.

I understand you are worried about your daughter gone but maybe if you did a little more research or could talk to someone who has went on this trip and they could shed a little light on it for you.

I know 3 of the teachers I work with chaperone this trip every year so background checks are done
