there are entire towns under water this morning... and the rivers have not even crested yet :( It took Ted almost 3 hours to get home last night due to detours; and he stopped once to help someone tow a car out of the middle of the road because the guy tried to go through standing water... dumb, dumb, dumb.
We are very blessed at our house but we are on a bit of a hill; the rest of my family all have water in their basements and flooded yards. My dad has over 7 feet of water and the fire company is going around his neighborhood pumping for everyone, his sump pump could not keep up and there was simply no where for the water to go as the gutters and sewers are clogged and backed up.
This cleanup is going to take a lot of time :( It is sad to see on the news, there are historic covered bridges here in Lancaster County that were simply swept away in the swelling creeks... trying hard not to watch too much tv news or I cry. 3|2|Shel I know it breaksmy heart tho I don't live there anymore I grew up going to all those places and Gary's family is all out that way along with dear family friends |teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|08:45:59|09/09/2011|

and they are predicting showers on and off this weekend; part of the problem now that the water is receding, there are a ton of sink holes and roads that have been washed out, including some small bridges just swept away :( It is simply sad.

This is heartbreaking!
So far they are saying 5 people have died and 2 more are missing when they were swept away in the streets, the force of the water was just so strong :( 6|1|Yes it is devastating.. Glad all my friends and family are safe, they are in Bloomsburg which got hit incredibly hard too.. In Fernville, it took out the bridge.. So sad.. Several hundred houses there will still be lost, but it would have been so much worse if the Susquehanna had overflowed the levees.

DH had an appointment at Hershey Med at 1:45 on Wednesday--the day we had the heaviest rain when Hershey flooded. It was raining but about the last 3 miles as we approached Hershey it was the heaviest downpour we have ever seen. We had to park and wait for 45 minutes before we could get into the parking lot at Hershey Med. It was like a river coming down the hill and cars higher than ours were going thru 2 feet of water. When we got there it was like a ghost town. Nobody was there and it is usually a bustling place. We went to the appointment and DH got a blood test and when we went to leave they were saying there was no way out. I thought we were going to end up in a motel but DH kept trying different directions and when he got to 422 we were able to get out of Hershey and back to Harrisburg and then it was fine for us coming home the rest of the way. Roads in Hershey were all closed by the flooding. I was never so glad to get out of a town! It was something to see but made me very glad that we do not live in a low lying area. From what I have seen on the local news the Lancaster area has been experiencing flooding too. Since you are not coming until the end of the month all should be ok.
