We had a couple of leaks when the rain did come so the shingles were damaged.. The tree service came down in the middle of the storm and removed the tree...thank heaven got that off right away as we were fearful of keeping the weight on the house for very long since we were fortunate with the first drop. We're OK having heard from the insurance company that the claims guy would be contacting us with 48 hours.

There are some areas of our county still without power, we were very very lucky ... no loss of power and only 5 inches of rain. Local creeks were flooded but nothing near our home. We had about one pickup truck full of branches down, mostly from our neighbor's dead tree that shed branches all over our yard during the storm.
Our neighbor lost a chicken, literally! We still don't know if he flew away or got blown away but he has not returned and gosh, I don't miss that rooster at all!
Hope everyone is well! 12|4|We are fine in NH. Got a little water in the basement and lots of wind and had lost internet for 12 hrs but that was it. No powerloss here either. Lots of really crazy wind and really hard rain but otherwise, we all thankfully fine. Thankfully the storm weakened a little going from NJ to NY. Thanks for all those who prayed for those in the Irene path. We are so fortunate.
We didn't lose power (the next block did) so the pump system MacGyver rigged using his power drill and garden hose kept the basement from flooding. (The floor drain that runs under the entire foundation filled and started backing up into the basement. In addition, water started seeping in between the wall & floor in the same part of basement. This has never happened before in our 18 years in this house.)
Our neighbor's 35 ft. tree fell onto our little, 21-year old Ford pick-up truck that my son uses to get back and forth to work. Incredibly, when the branches were cut away, the only damage was a bent antenna, a few small dents in the roof of the cab, and scratches. Even the DPW people that cut the tree were shocked that the mirrors were intact and no glass broken, and it started right up.
Yep, I'd say were are fortunate. (Thank you, Daddy!)
