For some reason the power was more to the north and west, probably because it skirted the coast line. They usually have the worst weather on the north and east side but this major storm is different.

I've been in FL since 1969 and my hubby is a 7 generation native and he has done better at projecting some of the storms that the weather service on those that head into the gulf. Thank God this one didn't as large as she was, all the Gulf states would be effected and TX would get rain but the ground is too hard to absorb it. We have standing water also in the Tampa Bay area.

There are two more tropical waves in the Atlantic. Ken and Jose. They expect Jose to dissipate but Ken is an unknown yet but all the power that Irene is taken could dissipate ken also.

stopped raining after 11 am and the winds got stronger. helping to dry everything up. we have all the windows open and it aired out the house. tornado never touches down here just heavy winds. stayed up til 1 am just in case. something hit the house at 2:30 am, tree branches and limbs all over the yard but everything else is OK. no water in the house so are grateful. our daughter lost electric 25 mins from here.
