I wish us all well.....latest reports has it coming pretty much over us, but only as a 1-2 catagory hurricane, unlike like those south of us. I am not saying ours is not bad, just that there are to be worse. I know that at least one of our traders is being told to mandatory evacuate, but not sure that she and hubby will listen..they will be flooded i am sure...Carolyn..Be careful!!.. As to me-as of now, i may just be at work..if we have power...heck...i may be at work for the next 2 days(I work at a Shoprite)...this is my weekend to do the price changes and the signs....so i may be bunking down on a register...my pillow will be in the car when i head to work on saturday....Storm is to start to hit as rain midday sat, and intensify over the course of the night....we are discussing how to handle my sunday shift which starts at 2 am...by then, the state will probably be under a state of emergency...judging by how they are reacting already...this out to be a treat...So...everyone...please be careful!! **Mandatory evacuations have begun on the barrier islands of New Jersey from Ocean City southward to the Wildwoods, as well as Cape May.**
**Officials in Nassau County Long Island have implemented the coastal storm plan and are calling on residents of the barrier islands including Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach and Point Lookout to begin preparation for a possible evacuation of their communities.**

please be sure that staying is the right call. I believe he's in Havelock right by Cherry Point! I told him the other night, he lived in Japan during the Tsumnami and the Reactor meltdowns, then moves to North Carolina and is in the path of a hurricane! He sent me back a list of natural disasters he's been right on top of and there's been a huge list... It would seem that mother nature is coming right for him! It's a good thing he has a good sense of humor. He promised he'd evacuate if they told him to. I told him he can't take chances with 3 little kids in the house.

The Target was SWAMPED with people today like Black Friday. No public transit after 12 pm tomorrow (Sat). Friends in Suffolk County are on alert. I really pray that the storm will lessen in intensity and I am really praying for NC, VA, MD and DE - as well as the rest of us NJ and north. I am not even sure if I bought enough water today. Last hurricane we were in, we couldn't flush the toilets for a long time... we had to walk next door to the neighbors pool to get buckets of water to flush. It will be flooded everywhere, it's going to be catastrophic. If you can get out, do so now. My heart goes out to everyone in Irene's path, including us in NH. I just spoke to my daughter in NJ, who works in a hospital and is on emergency call this weekend, saying that police are going in areas that are to be evacuated and those who refuse to leave are being marked in case they don't make it. Baked cookies here. Then for some strange reason, I put some pork chops in the crockpot with bbq sauce... hoping the power stays on for that to cook cuz it will be yummy.
Had a couple hours of heavy heavy rain... but it turned to light rain about an hour ago. Of course, just cuz I said that, it has just picked up.
Saw 50 utility trucks from Michigan (long way from home since I'm in Massachusetts) at the Marriott down the street. Hoping they are reinforcements!!!
In the last 2 months, Massachusetts has had tornadoes (never happens - last one of any strength was in 1953), earthquake this past week and now the worst hurrican in 100 years. This is just WRONG!!!
Stay safe everyone... Keep your laptops, tablets and cellphones totally charged while you have power so that you'll be all set if/when it goes out... at least for a little while. Of course, you'll lose your wifi, but you can play games or movies on your laptops!!
