and ended up losing the tooth anyway because the first guy did a poor job. 2|1|I had 2 root canals and DH had 1 in past 3 weeks|flyerfan|flyerfan3@comcast.net|01:44:27|08/25/2011|

DH had his root canal at the endodontist and he had no problems and was fine almost as soon as the pain killer wore off. I went to a regular dentist for my 2 root canals at the same time and he did not tell me to take the antibiotic that my DH took. Of course, I got an infection and then took the antibiotic. As soon as I had the drug for 48 hours to get control of the infection, I was fine too. It really wasn't bad at all. The infection was the only thing that caused pain until I got it under control. If I ever have another root canal I will request the antibiotic from the start because that worked great for DH and it would have saved me from the discomfort for 2 days. 3|1|Husband had to go to one and it cost us $2500 for what he could have gotten done at another dentist for around $1200|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|08:04:48|08/25/2011|

I believe you are paying for the education. I'd get a second opinion. JMHO

4|2|My regular dentist did a root cancal for me in the last 6 months....|Julie|juliejulie1975@yahoo.com|09:46:20|08/25/2011|

absolutely no problems! This is to redo a old root cancal an old dentist did an screwed up things. My dentist said she cannot do it because it has a post in it and she does not have the tools, etc to do this. (a piece of the tooth had broken off and that is why I got the root canal in the 1st place). She said they also have the ability to "get deeper" in the roots and make sure everything is okay this time.

I trust her opion on this one. Just wondered if it is worse pain wise/procedure wise, etc.

As far as their eduction, they are not more than dentists with extra training and all they do is root cancals. 5|3|I think you will like him!|flyerfan|flyerfan3@comcast.net|13:12:13|08/25/2011|

If anything I think it will be better than having your regular dentist do it. Dh loved the endodontist he had for his. He was in and out of the office in 45 minutes. And they numbed him 2 times before starting the procedure. It was a total breeze for him. They are very skilled at what they do. That being said I suppose there are good ones and bad ones just as with anything else but if your dentist is recommending them, they are probably good or she wouldn't send you there. Try not to worry as I bet it will be fine! This coming from 1 of the biggest worriers around! 6|1|not to|joseph|parkerjoe3@yahoo.com|14:11:27|08/25/2011|

charged the bill to the first one who did it wrong. They had to drill thru the crown, which had a post in it. Was
no more pain than the first time, other than the pain I had when I found out they did not get all the root the first
time. Sigh......

~Judy in MI~ Just depends on how well trained the dentist is........ :) 8|2|I used to be a dental assistant|angNC|memawang@nc.rr.com|00:59:03|08/26/2011|

If your tooth is in the back, and especially up top in the back go to an endo dentist.
He has extra school and training, and does nothing but that.Best of Luck. 9|1|Not anymore. It was simple and 1 visit. |whitmarg|robin@whitmannet.com|12:30:49|08/26/2011|

If you trust your current dentist then by all means go where they are telling you to go. I was just sharing what happened with our family...... the root canal my husband had done was no worse than any regular one and it wasn't a do-over. I wish you the best of luck! :)
