We are not bic bacon eaters. I buy it maybe twice a year. My husband prefers the Oscar Mayer center cut. Oscar Mayer has always been expensive, BUT I went to buy it today and it was 7.49lb. Holy BLT'S batman!! When did that happen?

I've only bought when on sale and I have a coupon. Sometime I buy a brand I've never tried before and it just ain't as good as OM or a few other name brands but in a BLT with enough mayo, etc. it sort of makes up for it.

2|1|I've noticed it too for awhile now.....even the cheapest 'store brand' is about $3.50 for a 12 oz pkg......maybe the govt is taxing bacon like they do soda now :S|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|20:20:22|08/17/2011|

We buy regular bacon, usually in a ten pd box, slab bacon. The last price I paid for it was 1.99 per pd. We would never consider turkey bacon because we need the extra fat in our diets for health reasons. I save the bacon drippings in the fridge to fry eggs, chicken, veggies. A great cooking grease and just an extra bonus for having bacon and wow the flavor of chicken fried in bacon drippings is just amazing. 11|4|I bought bacon a couple weeks ago in the deli section $1.99 a pound for Scott peterson brand..|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|20:25:03|08/18/2011|

My favorite stores have meat clearance sections and that is my first stop in the store. The only good thing about the pricey meats is that they are so overpriced most of us can't buy them so they clearance them out, at my store anyhow. They are about to expire but I just freeze them and they are fine. 15|4|lol.. I wish I needed extra fat in my diet.....|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|21:21:19|08/18/2011|

my mom used to save the bacon grease, and fry with it, I probably still have some of that left in my ateries.

16|5|my triglycerides went way down eating a high fat diet|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|23:36:30|08/18/2011|

My trigs before eating a high fat diet, 768. Trigs after: 174. My cardiologist advocates a high fat/low carb diet for heart disease, he wishes all his patients would eat this way. So upped my fat intake to around 70 percent of total calories and the fats in my blood went way down. Yes, it makes most doctors shake their heads, they don't understand it, flies in the face of the low fat propaganda but it works. I'm thankful I have a cardiologist who understands nutrition, my primary care doctor still disagrees but told me to continue with whatever I am doing because my numbers look good. 17|6|Lowering carbs..(sugar and starches) is what affects your trigs,|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|10:13:27|08/19/2011|

I agree a low fat diet is not good, because it lowers your HDL too much, I upped my healthy fats, walnuts, olive oil, fish. I do like a little bacon too once in awhile.

I put 4 or 5 slices in a sandwich bag then put all in a quart freezer bag and take out what we need, seems like before that I would op-en it and then forget it and next time I took it out it stinks so I was having to throw out most of it. Linda
