I too fought getting them I got reading glasses instead and got so tired of putting them on then taking them off, with the bifocals its really nice to be able to see again Linda 4|1|There is good news, I am a diabetic, and my dialated exam was perfect. Was worried about that more than the need for bifocals. |dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|18:59:43|08/16/2011|

I got bi-focals a couple yrs. ago. Fought it tooth & nail cuz I seen so many people struggle w/their bi-focals. But.... I was struggling w/out them, taking my glasses off to see small stuff. Got them & love them & NO problems adjusting to them or anything. :)
However, I went for my usual exam last week & they recommended tri-focals! I said NO WAY since I can see just fine to read & watch tv, etc. w/what I got. Sometimes when I 1st wake up in the morning, I'm having to look thru my bi-focals for the computer, but that's it & only lasts maybe an hour or 2, til my eyes have also "woken up". And one of the other techies said too that I likely wouldn't like the tri-focals as they'd be in the way, right in the center of my lens. So, I said no & am just waiting for my new glasses w/the different script. Then I think I'll call it good enough for a couple yrs. or so as I don't like the idea of having my eyes dilated everytime as too much dilation can be risky for cataracts later on. The previous eye dr. I'd had since I was a kid up to my early 40's never dilated my eyes as he said right out it increases the risk of cataracts....

6|1|the dialated exam was a MUST for a diabetic. This is the first one, I have had, in almost 15 years, so I guess I am doing good. The script I had for my reading glass, just became a problem, within the last year or so.|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|19:07:09|08/16/2011|

I'm just doomed in every other dept. - loss of hearing, bone density, high bp, heart & lung disease. :(

8|1|I love my bifocals and I have the progressive kind |bcmunns|bcmunns@bellsouth.net|20:02:12|08/16/2011|

I could not do the lined bifocal--felt like I was going nuts trying to adjust my eyes and went to
the progressive and what a difference.

I am diabetic and have my eyes dilated twice a year and I just pray for a cloudy day as it makes it so much easier
I always get the last appt in the day because it is so hard to see afterwards and I also have cataracts in both eyes and I have high eye pressure
that I take meds for and I have been able to keep that very low and it has really slowed the growth of my cataracts

I feel old every day but it is not because of my eyes!!!!!!--I really am old!!!!!

I carry a pair of reading glasses, since I can't pop my contacts out to read.
