Wow, that is just outrageous - how can anyone afford that these days? Most college graduates today can't even get a job when they graduate and read that 85% have moved back home to live with their parents. How are they going to pay for their student loans? In the time that my son has been in school (2005-2009 for undergrad and now grad) the expenses have skyrocketed.
And the sad thing is it's not so much tuition at most schools, but all the fees. So then they say "Our tuition hasn't gone up in 5 years" but the fees have gone up 500%.
I'm very concerned -- I'll be paying his undergrad until I'm 80 (hopefully won't be working that long) and I wonder what kind of a job he will get -- or if he'll even come back to the US for that job. Not just college tuition, but home mortgages, loans, credit cards, property taxes, etc. With this kind of system, you can never be free! Think about it, certainly makes sense to me! 8|1|Any financial advisor worth their salt will tell middle age parents do NOT go into debt for your kids' education.....it's one thing if you saved and have the money available, but not to take out loans, dig into retirement, etc.....they have their whole adult lives to pay off their own debts, and middle age parents (let's say 40 yrs+) have only about 20 -25 yrs left to work and save for retirement.....my boys will have to get their own loans for whatever financial aid/grants/scholarships dont cover....it's the reality of it.
