Hi, this is the first time i've turned this thing on in two weeks... I've been very sick with food poisoning.. still weak but I have to TRY to get moving again.. Spent some time in the hospital and feel like i've just come home from an all night party.. NOT that I know what that feels like:) I have over 500 emails to go thru in my folders/inbox... getting to it right now.. we'll see how far I get before the couch starts calling to me again.

I had all sorts of tests, cultures, Kat scan on my stomach... What they gave me in report was "ingested a contaminated substance". My stomach, intestines, were infected. I was on IVs all day but i'm telling you.. on an empty stomach, the turkey sandwich and Sprite they gave me later tasted like heaven! I still have Colonitis but am getting better every day.. It sure threw me for a loop! I'm on two kinds of antibiotics and anticipatory drugs.
btw.. I got your envie of WONDERFUL coupons.. the Purina retailer check and everything was SO helpful!!

Had it once myself a little over 20 yrs. ago & never want to repeat that experience. Ooof!
Got it from a macaroni salad & I will NOT touch any kind of macaroni or potato salads anymore (especially in summer) unless I make them myself.
I'm sorry you had it & bad enough to require hospitalization. Sure hope you're back to feeling like yourself again soon! :)

Definitely something you ate.. do you an idea what caused this? Wow..hospital and 2 weeks sick is horrible. I got sick 30 years ago on spoiled pastrami
sandwich and still have a hard time dealing with this meat. Brings back memories but it was for 24 hours.. So sorry you went thru this and hope you are feeling better everyday

I've had a few sips of coffee today and a piece of toast..... I'm feeling better and don't feel like i've been run over with a truck, although my "digestion area" isn't yet 100%. I feel SOOOO blessed and happy to be sitting here this morning and pretty much ready to get back to the "fun"!
We went to the coast a few weeks ago and ate at a buffet. On the way home, I started to get a headache.. I rarely get them so I thought that was weird for one to come on so suddenly like that by next morning I was rubber-kneed, hurting all over and running 102 temp..Of course it escalated from there.. My husband and I didn't eat the same things so that's why he didn't get sick. I assume it was the buffet and am thinking twice now about ever eating at one again. I realize that I am a sitting duck when I eat at those, anyone is.. Everyone is breathing, touching, coughing on the food and many times, the temp is not kept at the proper level to ensure that contamination doesn't form. And if they don't "move" the food properly, that's a big no-no. They are suppose to take out the old food, put in the new one and then empty the old food on top so that it gets eaten but i've seen them just dump the new food on top of the old and if you are the "lucky" one to come along and scoop out the bottom of the pan, WHO KNOWS how long that stuff has been sitting down there! I've watched the workers actually go along and wipe the food that has strayed out of the pan onto the counters, BACK into the pan! We eat at a lot of buffets but thats going to change FOR SURE! Thank you SOOO much for all your replies... I love this place!!!

14|2|Liz, there is a good chance that if you got sick THAT fast, on the way home, one of two things could have happened. First, you may have been getting sick from something you ate earlier in the day. Most food borne illnesses take at least 2 to 12 hours to develop, and hit you that hard. Also, and this is the part that worries me. You may have had poinsoning from a chemical, or foreign substance in your food. Honestly, it could be many things. But, I would take the time to call the health department in the town the restaurant was in, and let them know how sick you got, and even offer up the medical information, and let them know, you were hospitalized. Foodborne illness is not considered a break out unless two or moire people get sick from eating the same food. At the very least, you will likely trigger a impromto health inspection, at worst you may be the second person filing a complaint for that day. Either way, the health department should know. Also the practices, you described at the buffet are awful, and I would mention that as well. Wiping food back into a contiainer, with a dirty unsanitary rag, can make you sick. it was nasty stuff. The last one I was soo sick from it I literally had sweat 'running' out of every pour on my body..even my head! Bizarre stuff. Sick at 'every end' of my body. You all have been SO nice! Day #11 and I am pretty much feeling almost normal, whatever THAT is except for a little digestion trouble still.. i'm sure that takes time.
One of the things you just mentioned was the sweating.. oh yeah boy of boy!! I think it was day #3 that the sweats came on and believe me when I say, I did have it coming out every pore of my body! So much so, that I had to change my clothes and bedding because I was sopping! Then I got these shakes like crazy.. i'd say they were at least 5 or 6 on the Richter scale. It was 101 degrees outside and i'm wrapped in a blanket shaking like crazy!!!
I have to say thank you to my husband who took over everything here for me.. We live on a piece of land out in the country and many of you know how I love my gardens... My husband went out there faithfully every day to water, weed, and harvest our garden for me.. He did the dishes, cooked the meals, took care of all our pets (3 dogs and 6+ cats), he shopped, all the things I normally do here. He never left my side at the hospital even though I tried to get him to go home and get some rest... Even though we have our big differences, I don't know what I would've done without that man.
