Here at the UNC school you must first apply. Then once a month they go through all the applications and you are then "drawn" from the pile to come in and have a "consultation" visit and finish your application. Then you are paired with a student and scheduled for a 2-3 hour consult, etc. The student does the exam with the teacher and a course of treatment, etc. is proposed. You then have to agree on what needs to be done and agree to pay for the course of treatment. You must follow through with all of it and pay all your bills. If you don't the student doesn't get the "practice" they need to complete their studies. You can not skip any appointments and can not change students or reschedule. I know it sounds difficult but think about if you are the student and can't complete the required work needed to finish the course. That's how they do it here. Search for the dental school your thinking about looking at going to. Here all the "details" are posted on line as well as the application you must submit for the "lottery" draw once a month.
