How many of you are for/against the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes? Why or why not?
I watched Dr. Oz yesterday & Montel Williams was on there, a strong advocate for legalizing marijuana in all 50 U.S. states, speaking about his on-going battle w/Multiple Sclerosis & how marijuana has been an amazing help easing the painful symptoms he suffers from.
So, I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this. There are currently 16 states that allow marijuana use for medical reasons.

5|1|For it, when I was on methotrexate for psoriasis, I had nausea all the time.. If I had access to pot at the time, I would have smoked it without question. I believe that marijuana should be LEGAL for everyone who wishes to use it. It has never been proved that it is a "gateway drug". There are medicinal benefits, for those with certain conditions. It is no more harmful than smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol. Legalization would wipe out the black market marijuana trade. Legalization could be taxed by the states, much like ciggys and alcohol...bringing in much needed revenue for cash-strapped states and the federal government. I am all for anything that can eliminate some of the suffering that people go thru on chemo, but NOT for everyone to be able to smoke it without it being medically necessary!!!!!!!!!!

It's quite interesting that it's unanimous w/everyone who posted on behalf of at least medicinal use.
I'm not keen on the idea of recreational marijuana use but if it's for medical reasons, I'm for it as well. I look at it this way: As long as it works & helps alleviate the terrible symptoms of illnesses or the side-effects of chemo or other medical treatments, who are we to deprive someone of that bit of relief if that's what they choose?
