I Lost my job last week and my landlord (a relative) is kicking me outta of the house because he wants to sell it and not rent it anymore. My lease is up in August. I have a 12 year old daughter living with me. My friend that owns a house said I can move in there for a little bit. Im happy I have someplace to go but Im in tears because I lost my job, I have some money put away but not enough to find an apartment on my own. I might have to go on state aid but idk if I can get it because I will be living with a person with my daughter. Also I won't have no bills in my name, how would I sign up my daughter for school? Im worried about food money and other stuff I need for money. My daughter even has to give up her cat that she loves very much. If I could have just stayed where I would be fine but with me moving I dont know what to do?

social servies and also local churches that offer help In this area its called Community
Housing they help locating to other apts. also help with bills
Manna House is another.. it's just not a food bank they help other ways check in your local phone book for social services. There is help out there

My husband had a stroke and needs 24 hour a day care. When I told that to Family Services they told me that I should still be able to get a full time job. They would not pay for anyone else to help with me with the care, they just figured that I could fit a another 8 hours into my day. I just said that I thought it was against the law to tie someone into a wheelchair and then leave him by himself all day with just a sandwich nearby. Their rules absolutely make no sense and I have yet to see a worker with even an ounce of compassion. I was told that if the money you have coming in was not what they considered earned ( like disability) then all you could get in food stamps is $16 a month. That is what older people on social security are offered. Even with coupons, how much could you get with $l6? I know that a lot of people think that you make out like bandits with state help, but in my case it is very far from the truth. I remember my Mom always saying that if you really need the help from the state it will not be there for you. I think she knew what she was talking about. I hope that you have more luck.
