Refusal to serve on a jury? Why? It is a part of people's obligations as U.S. citizens, to serve on juries, when called upon to do so...except for certain circumstances. Refusal to serve on a jury just because you may not agree with the alleged criminal activity of a defendent is not a valid excuse.
And let's not forget, that despite any negative opinons you may have about the jury's verdict or the defendent herself, Mrs. Anthony WAS found not guilty of her alleged crimes. And that should be the end of it. Period. The jury evidently found that the prosecution could not make their case with the evidence and testimony that was given in court.
As for the petition, it would be good to sign it, if you are in favor of what it proposes. But let's not start bad-mouthing the "trial by jury" system in this country.
