but if you explain to him that he needs the kind of care you are unable to provide and that you love him so much that you want to make sure he gets the best care you can get for him... hopefully he'll understand. It's amazing how our parents become more like children when these things happen. You know how much kids tell you they hate you for everything that doesn't go their way when they are little.... sometimes parents do the same when they are older or in poor health... but deep down they really love you so much, they just don't know how to express it anymore.

Don't feel bad for doing what you know in your heart is the right thing to do! Hope you get into the nursing home you want him to be in and everything works out.

Email me if you need to talk.

Laurie 2|1|Shirley, I know that must have been a very difficult decision to make.....and Laurie is right, you made it out of love for him so he can get the care he needs around the clock. I get upset when I hear all negative things about nursing homes in general, as that has been my field of nursing for almost 18 yrs....there are some really terrific facilities out there, you just have to shop around! :) If you would like some info in what to look for when you tour the facilities, email me...|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:59:05|07/03/2011|

But I'm sure it'll be the right one for both your dad & for you. You're 1 person & as much as I know you'd do anything to help your dad, it is not humanly possible for 1 person alone to take on the 24/7 care that becomes medically & physically necessary.
Joy is right, there are some really wonderful nursing facilities. Check around (word of mouth helps alot) as I'm sure you'll find one that you'll both be comfortable & happy with. :)

Smile... it makes people wonder what you're up to!

Please identify yourself in 1st email w/name/username. Due to recent problem trades, if I haven't traded w/you before, I will probably require you send your end 1st or I'll need LEGIT trade references/feedback. I will be happy to provide the same. IF you plan to hold your end til you've received mine, I will need to know that IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE trade is finalized.

If you're happy w/our trade, please leave feedback for me at:

I'll gladly do the same for you upon request.:)

please don't feel guilty about this, you tried, it can be very hard taking care of someone after a stroke, who can not help you with their movement. I agree with Joy, all nursing homes are not bad. The more you participate at the home with his care, the better it will be for him. Do nice things for the staff, let them see you on a regular unexpected basis. Take him out for field trips if you can. I used to always bring fun stuff into my dads room, because it got him more attention. Things like those big frog balloons that kind of move around the room.
