Heard from DS yesterday. The wound has finally closed!!! Naturally, it's very tender and hair has not started to grow there yet, but having that heal is an awesome step for my son. He was able to read his first complete book. As many of you know, he has a lot of trouble comprehending and the headaches were so bad that getting through a few paragraphs was impossible just about 3 weeks ago. Then a week ago he was able to read 5 pages with no issues. This past week he read an entire book -- okay, a small book (125 pgs) but its a start. It's killing him because he's used to reading 40-50 books a WEEK!!! Eeek, I don't think I've read that many in 57 years!!!
Dr said the concussion will probably last another 12 weeks, which, of course, is not great and he still has memory, insomnia, appetite/lack of tastebud issues, fatique and severe headaches, but it does appear that things are improving. His demeanor has greatly improved. For a few weeks we had trouble having conversations without him getting short tempered, angry and irritable. Just something he couldn't control. We now have conversations with laughter and jokes. He can't converse with more than one person at a time because he can't process it, but as long as it's a one-on-one conversation between us, its getting much better.
