My friend of 5 years passed away suddenly and she didn't have no family or friends. I was the one that went to the funeral and got her funeral plans. Just as long as you pay for it you can do whatever you want if she has no family or friends, but if she's paying for it than she will need a will stating the money in her bank or insurance will pay for it. That will get sticky if she don't have a will 2|1|anyone a notary?|melpaul|Melpaul199@aol.com|20:19:44|07/03/2011|

Once the document is signed and notarized there's no reason to have it done monthly. Why would you think it would? Did someone say something? Does it have a date on it? 4|2|Ok Thanks! Yes I was told you need to renew it.....|melpaul|Melpaul199@aol.com|20:48:13|07/03/2011|
but the person who said that isn't really reliable. 5|1|Easier yet would be for her to pre-pay at the local funeral home|padrifter|candles@nb.net|20:58:29|07/03/2011|
That would show her wishes, and you keep a copy of it.

I think it's called a Burial Trust or Advanced Funeral Trust, & it can be set up w/the funeral home of her choice. The funeral home will abide by her wishes on the arrangements & cremation if desired. She can have you retain a copy.
My dad's friend had no family or close friends except for my dad so he had my dad go w/him to the local funeral home here & pre-arranged & pre-paid for his funeral. When my dad's friend passed away, the funeral home called my dad right away, as they were instructed to do so by his friend's prior arrangements.
Funeral home directors are pretty knowledgeable about burial/funeral trust laws so that might be a good place to start for your friend, to find out what all she would or wouldn't need to do to ensure her wishes are carried out.
HTH. :)
Smile... it makes people wonder what you're up to!
Please identify yourself in 1st email w/name/username. Due to recent problem trades, if I haven't traded w/you before, I will probably require you send your end 1st or I'll need LEGIT trade references/feedback. I will be happy to provide the same. IF you plan to hold your end til you've received mine, I will need to know that IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE trade is finalized.

I'd pre-pay the funeral if she could. It is right that she make her wishes known to someone because if you put it in your Will, that isn't necessarily the first thing a person reaches for when someone dies. Often, people mistakenly put them in a safety deposit box at a bank and those are sealed at death (so keep a copy of it there, not the original). Banks, especially local ones, do read the death notices and will know if someone tries to come in.
A funeral director, even if she didn't have the money right then, should still be able to talk her through the process. But yes, once it is notarized, it should not need to be renewed. Since it is notarized, if she ever changed her mind, she would probably have to have a revocation notarized just in case there were copies floating out there.
She should still have a Will though and she can make it clear in there (again) what her wishes are. I know when I worked at a law office years back, families would find Wills and the attorney would then pull the file and see what other info was in there. Often, people have a preference for funeral homes (or pre-paid a funeral and a family wouldn't have known). So do have her seek legal counsel too.
