I do know how I feel (mixed feelings). I do not live in New York so it is no where near me. 1|1|A victory for gay and lesbian people...|inthesticks|inthesticks@windstream.net|18:26:38|06/27/2011|

in New York and across the nation! Congratulations to New York for having the courage to stand up and do what is right, rather give in to the fear and homophobia of conservatives and Church leaders. The fact that the three Republicans who voted with the Democrats on this issue are now threatened with being voted out of office, is but a testament to the fact that homophobia is still rampant across the nation. People are always afraid of what they don't understand. And instead of educating themselves on the subject, they instead give in to their base prejudices and fears.

I am happy for New York gays and lesbians. And until equality is given to ALL Americans, regardless of their sexual orientation, the fight will go on. 2|2|Can o' worms...|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|20:43:52|06/27/2011|

This discussion will likely go bad very soon. That said...

Who am I to judge? God will judge people when their time comes. That doesn't mean that "conservatives" have to let the liberals have their way and roll over and allow what we'd call a sanctioning of immoral behavior come to pass.

Many things in the Bible that are sins are against the law. For instance, the thou shalt not steal commandment. You can't just go steal someone's car because you think you deserve it.

Mormons in Utah had to give up the ability to enter into polygamist marriages to enter into the Union. I say the heck with that... let Sister Wives reign! Why not plural marriages... if homosexuals can marry. Why not brother/sister marriages (ala VC Andrews books)? Let's lower the age of consent while we're at it so some dirty old man can marry a 14 year old girl. It is a mighty slippery slope when you factor in morality. But give these scenarios some thought.

Our country is in a state of chaos and disarray due to the lack of a strong family foundation that involve two parents raising a child... a mother and a father.

Conservatism isn't a sin. 3|2|I am happy for them! We should all be treated equal, they are human just like the rest of us.|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|21:03:44|06/27/2011|

o I don't see anything wrong with same sex marriage, if you love someone what does it matter what sex they are? We are all human and to love someone I think is great all in itself, and why should you be denied marriage?. Yes, I have friends that are gay.

and i love them dearly. i would do anything for them and would never hurt them in any way.i have gay friends and would never be mean to them, but i dont have to agree with there lifestyle.the bible says if you are gay you will not go to heaven but will be thrown in the lake of fire. i personally think our lax in morals is why our country is in the shape that its in. 5|4|I think this is how I feel...|Julie|juliejulie1975@yahoo.com|11:39:16|06/28/2011|

My uncle Aizik put it well around 1990: "If any two people love each other, what right do I have--and what right does my government have--to say that's not a good thing?"

I live in CA, and a local cousin married his partner in 2008 after being together 35 years; Prop 8 didn't take that away. They still don't have federal rights, but I hope that will change soon. How many opposite-sex couples can say that?

i have not problem with same sex marriages. one of the better parts of the Ny law is that is there is the right of a pastor to refuse to marry a same sex couple because it goes against that persons beliefs. the law has been very well written including a clause about divorce. it sill be interesting to watch and see how many people and states follow ny example.
