Hubby has been having some issues with his liver, they say cirrohsis but primary care physician is sending him to specialist. PCP has been a nightmare not telling us anything and having nurse call and just say see specialist. Went to outpatient at hospital as his stomach was bloated and they said cirrohsis and see your dr. No explanation or anything. To top it off our rotten insurance has $3,0000 deductible so at this point I have a little over $1,500.00 in medical bills piling up and he hasn't even seen the specialist or given anything but water pills. He is scheduled for liver biopsy on July 15 with another specialist unless the specialist he is seeing early next week can handle it. We are both a wreck as the unknown is scary. Of course I go right to the worst and think liver transplant but we don't even know how bad it is or if it can be treated with medication. Needless to say we are changing our primary care dr, I had this doctor since I was 17 and now I'm 43 and I am soo mad at him, his practice just got too big and you are just a number.
Anyway if you read this can you just take a second to say a quick little prayer for Brian that things will be okay or manageable. I believe prayers work miracles!!

Thanks for the prayer!! 3|1|Prayers going up for Brian....that you can find a doctor who will LISTEN and empathize with what you are both fearing, and give you answers to your concerns....if I may suggest something, consider seeing a Nurse Practioner....they are often more patient and dont mind taking time to talk to you! If there are issues they are not able to address, they will refer you as needed. Thanks for the prayer and thanks for the advice about nurse practioner, we did that and she is the only person who gave us some info. She is better than the doctor. Thanks again.!!
US healthcare really needs to be looked at with high deductibles, bad doctors, overpaid workers, and high insurance costs on top of that

Joy is right about finding a good dr. that will LISTEN. I'm lucky to have found one 8 yrs. ago but it took some searching & several trips into ER (I guess it could be called dr. shopping :-O ) to finally find one that actually takes the time to sit down & listen.
It's important to have not only that but to be able to develop a mutually good, trusting & comfortable relationship w/one. It's just as important for the dr. to have that w/patients as he/she can miss ALOT of key signs & cues if something more might going on w/a patient.
I'm sorry you & dh haven't been having much luck w/your current health care providers & I'm sorry for what you're going thru w/his liver & the questions & fears that aren't being properly addressed. That's not right. :(

well we spent 9 hours in the hospital to get a 20 minute liver biopsy. They tried to go through his belly with needle but he had too much fluid still built up. Sent him back to to recovery to go to get the biopsy through his jugular vein in neck. Waited for about 4 hours, we would have left but we just want this done so we can get proper diagnosis. Had procedure done with just local numbing and hubby said it hurt. Had to wait 2 hours in recovery before he could leave as he lost some blood and wanted to make sure he was clotting. Now just waiting the 5 to 7 days for the dr to call with results.
I have been praying and calling on my deceased family and friends to help us (if that is allowed in heaven)

If you read this just say a quick God help Brian with his liver.
I am hoping for a miracle or atleast that the liver isnt as damaged.
They believe he has hemochromatosis like his father and uncle which is why iron is so high in blood, which is easy to handle just blood letting which is like donating pints of blood each month. The worry is that this has damaged his liver. Plus he drank beer not tons but I guess if you have hemochromatosis it makes it worse on liver. Ugh...
Im in a catch 22 I want the results so I know what we are dealing with but I am terrified at what the outcome may be. My stomach is in knots.

All his family ask me questions about it not him so I feel like I keep reliving the pain and nerves, after about 20 times saying the same thing and not being able to keep my mind off it my blood pressure must be high. Still waiting on results but hubby has been calling GI specialist daily asking and today they called back saying that they just rec'd the results and the doctor has to review and they will get back to him in a day or 2. I've been crying my eyes out and sick to my stomach. I sell online so trying to clear entire inventory that I have and sell off some of our stuff in anticipation of needing liver transplant (hopefully he wont but if he does I need to get a jump start money situation and just getting everything out. Please if you read this just say a prayer for Brian.
I have him on prayer lines, i've been praying like crazy, I've been doing the The Secret plan positive attracts positive so I have wish board set up. Sending plea to places where Mary was sited Medjorie (sp). and they are praying. Oh god what else can I do!
