how can i be sure my computer is safe & free of this thing?

It said I had a huge virus but my other norton virus program said I was fine. I took it to best buy and they said they didn't find no viruses. Someone said Microsoft security program tells you that you have a virus and wants you to buy there product. Just say in the end I had to system reboot everything and I lost everything on my computer cuz of this stupid program.. So beware
