MANY years ago I was gung-ho. Stores doubled, deals were aplenty and I saved BIG time. The Stores were coupon and customer friendly. NOW, NO stores double here in Dinuba Ca, the managers treat you like you're a criminal if they think you're going to get something for free and the people at the registers don't even know how to read the coupons. Its depressing. I am lucky if I can srounge up one good deal somewhere near me and VERY lucky if nothing goes wrong.
I went to Walgreens this weekend with the $5 Nature Made Calcium coupon I printed on their website. They were having a B1G1f sale on Nature Made. With the $5 coupon, both bottles would be free because the first bottle was only $5. I would only have to pay the tax. Well, the coupon wouldn't go thru. She called the manager and the manager told me I couldn't use the $5 coupon to make BOTH bottles free. I was too tired to argue and normally am.
Then I went over to Walmart armed with a pile of coupons. Would you believe I went thru the whole store and only found one item that was worth using a coupon on? The prices have gone up SO high there, even with coupons they still are too high! How depressing!!! And get this. On the coupon it said that it couldn't be doubled. The checker lady said, "you can't use this coupon because it says it can't be doubled". HUH? YOU'RE KIDDING ME, RIGHT? I'm NOT trying to double the coupon! I know you don't double coupons here!! She looked kind of blank and then ran it thru.. That just beats all. I mean, they say on their advertizment that they "welcome coupons" but they make it so difficult to use them. One time the lady told me I couldn't use a coupon because it expired THAT day! YES, it expires today but I can STILL use it today! My husband has quit wanting to do coupon shopping with me because of all the ruckas at the check out. What did it for him was that my coupon said "limit one per purchase" and I had 3 bottles and 3 of those coupons. I consider each bottle a purchase but the lady told me NO. I could only use ONE on all 3 because she considered all 3 was ONE purchase.. My husband, well, I won't tell you what he said..

o No stores double coupons, so I really must use coupons to save money and it gets hard. I only go shopping when I am having a good day, lol..stores here will not let me stack manufacter coupons even when they are different c/o, and I have had cashiers telling me I am buying too many items. I can't use wine tags or any on line printed coupons here, they give me a hassle about them as well. It makes it really hard to save money when they give such a hassle or don't know how to read coupons clearly. And yes me too, somedays I don't feel like using coupons at all...since I know I will be in for a battle....I don't shop as often as I use to and don't stockpile much at all.

When their OWN website offers a printable coupon. You print it out, take it in, and they scrutinize it like its counterfeit. It makes you feel like a criminal. I actually told the manager at Walgreens once to go back in his office, access the Walgreens site and check for himself that the coupon was being offered! He actually did!
Winco here has a sign posted in front of their store that reads that they don't accept internet coupons yet they offer printable coupons on their site from time to time.

o And here the manager is not even aware of what coupons are posted on there own store site and made you feel bad, sorry that happened to you! Years ago I had a cvs extra care buck worth $50 and the manager took it from me saying it was fake,that he never saw one for that high of money and that it must be a fake. The manager than took it to his office where he said he was calling corporate to report the fraud. Luckily bf was with me and had the corporate phone # stored on his cell phone, he called corporate while we stood in the store and that manager got reamed from them and gave me back my ecb. I never went back to that cvs store(location) again, they embarrassed the heck out of us and made us feel like criminals.

That's the thing, these stores want to discourage people from using coupons, because some stores feel coupons are a hassle. I've had some cashiers that have tried to bully me, but I finally had enough and fought back, told them that this is their policy and that they have to take my coupons, I have a printed copy of Walmart's coupon policy I carry with me, so that if there's any argument, I just whip it out and show them. My husband is getting to be pretty good at coupons too and carries the policy with him as well, cause he's had a few cashiers tell him he can't use a certain coupon yadda yadda yadda, but he lets them know their policy and they take them. I'm originally from California, but haven't lived there since 2001, and I've heard the policies at the grocery stores have changed quite a bit, I just don't understand why these stores get all uptight about the coupons, they are getting their money back for the coupons plus 8 cents for each coupon too. UGH!!!!

i gave up to look at good deal with double only like .25 or .35 or .45 or .50 or .55 can go double to $1.00 .
no more double like $1.00/1 to get 2.00 off .
i missed double coupons. i am bored to look for good deals at vons. i only take coupons which i buy product all the time . they give me limit to use same coupons up to 3.
that's suck.
