I am going to my mom's on Labor Day weekend to help her pack and move stuff out of her home.....she wont be able to drive anymore, so we are buying her car (basically to help her out, although the boys now share a car and will need another one after they graduate next year anyhow). The whole rush-rush of everything is making me crazy, I can't imagine how she feels :(

I've been down this road so I understand what you're going thru w/your sister.
You & your mom hang in there - you 2 gotta do what you gotta do - & don't let the "boss" run the show when your mom is still quite mentally capable of expressing what she wants/doesn't want.

i'm sorry, your mom and all of you are going thru so much. I know it's hard making decisions, knowing the right thing
to do. So much going on in your heart and in your head. Life is tough, love is sometimes harder. Hoping and praying
that you all will make the right decisions...and your mom will be happy with her new friends, that she will meet.
God has this plan for all of us, that we don't like Not "knowing" what is going on. We just have to hope and pray for the
best...AND be thankful that you have so many friends that will send out definite prayers, good thoughts and well wishes

Does your sister have POA for your Mom? How can she just say it is so if she doesn't a big ole jug of hugs my friend 8|2|That would explain soooo much, Pal! Yes, my mom signed POA papers when she had the TIA in the hospital, as the paramedics didnt bring her papers from home. BUT, my sister and I have dual POA for both healthcare and finances in the papers at her home. Also, we are co-executors of her estate. I'm feeling like I'm close to being in this situation, but on the other end. I will be the one making the decisions and having everyone hate me for it! I'm trying to keep everyone in the loop so that know what I'm doing and why, hoping that will help. I hope you get this figured out. I'm trying hard to not make the same mistakes your sister is making when dealing with this situation because I don't want my younger siblings or Mom's fiance to feel this way.

As long as your mom is of sound mind, that POA your sister has right now may no longer be valid.
Don't quote me on this but my understanding is that unless a person is deemed incapable of making his/her own decisions or has specifically authorized the POA to someone, the POA's are not valid until one or the other takes place. And if your mom did authorize the POA to your sister only for a said period of time (her being in rehab, hospital, etc.), I believe your mom can just as easily revoke it, unless the POA was made irrevocable, & your mom needs to simply inform your sister & everyone else at the medical facility that it is revoked.
You may want to check w/an attorney on that to be sure, but the hospital or rehab facility may even know.
