I AM OWNER OF TWO BUSINESSES AND RUN TWO EBAY ACOUNTS AS WELL AS HAVE 4 SEPERATE ACCOUNTS ON OTHER SITES TO SELL MY THINGS. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM...
I STARTED AN AUCTION ON APRIL 21 AND ENDED IT ON APRIL 30. IT TOOK THE BUYER/WINNER OF MY AUCTION, EIGHT DAYS TO SEND OUT PAYMENT FROM THE WEST COAST. I AVISED HE TWICE IN THAT EIGHT DAYS THAT MAYBE WE SHOULD CANCEL THE TRANSACTION DUE O COUPONS EXPIRING ORVERY CLOSE TO THEIR EXPIRATION DATES. SHE WANTED ME TO JUST SWITCH THEM OUT. I WAS CONCERNED FOR HER. I WANTED TO GIVE HER WHAT SHE WAS PAYING FOR, LOOKING OUT FOR CUSTOMERS IS A HIGH PRIORITY FOR ME. IN THOSE EIGHT DAYS, WE HAD BEEN BARTERING, SHE REFUSED PRIORITY MAIL, WHICH WASNT A BIG DEAL FOR ME, BUT I ADVISED HER THAT THE COUPONS, SEVERAL OF THEM, HAD BEEN NEARING THEIR EXPIRATION DATE. SHE ALSO REFUSED TO SEND COINS (AS SHE CHOSE CASH AS HER FORM OF PAYMENT) SO WANTEDE TO TAKE POSTAGE STAMPS AS PARTIAL PAYMENT. SHE WAS EXTREMELY BOSSY AND CONTROLLING THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS. SINCE I DIDN'T GET PAYMENT UNTIL MAY 7, I AGAIN EMAILEDHER AND ADVISED HER I REALLY WAS CANCELLING THIS. IT WAS A GREAT WASTE FOR HER AND DIDN'T WANT HER TO BE UNHAPPY WITH THIS TRADE. SHE HAD AN ATTITUDE, BUT ACCEPTED THE RETURN TO SENDER. I DID PROMPTLY DROP HER MAIL OFF THIS MORNING, RETURN TO SENDER.
MY QUESTIONS ARE THESE....WAS I RIGHT OR WRONG? IS THERE A STANDARD PRACTICE TO DAYS BEFORE PAYMENT IS SENT OUT AND HOW LONG TO WAIT, ETC? AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT A BARTERING CUSTOMER? I HAVE IT SPELLED OUT ON MY AUCTIONS THE FORM OF PAYMENT I ACCEPT (STAMPS ARE NOT ON THERE) AND I FELT LIKE I HAD TO DEFEND MYSELF WITH THIS PERSON.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
~ANGEL 1|1|Personally, I usually list that I will take CC and Stamps, because not everyone has PP, and I understand that, because I went quite a while without it and missed out alot because some people will only take PPHF. That way payment will be prompt, and you can mail out in time.
I will say, when I did not have pphf, and I was sending CC most traders were okay, with me sending stamps for the change. On the other hand, if they wern't, I would round up to the next dollar, and mail that. It seemed to me, that it was going to cost extra postage to send change anyway, so rounding up to the next dollar worked for me. At least that way the post office did not get more of my money....LOL!! Hope this helps a little, and sorry you are having the trouble. Donna

THANKS DONNA! 3|1|I dont think you would be obligated to 'switch out' coupons that were about to expire....you listed the contents with the expiration dates, right? They knew what they were bidding on, so it was up to them to get payment to you quickly so you could mail as soon as possible. I actually did a search to see what auction you were talking about. In that particular auction there was no payment option listed and the buyer/winner even asked what your options were, and even though you added after her bid, you never answered the question as to payment options (unless you personally emailed her.) After the auction ended you posted 24 hours later saying she had won and for her to let you know how she planned to pay, sort of sounds like you didn't email her (?) and so another 24 hours passes and she states she didnt get an email from you, so then almost 36 hours later you ask her if she got the email and it just looks like you guys were hit and miss on emails. I am fortunate to have internet access during the day, not a lot of people have that privelage. I wouldn't think postage would have been more than .64 for 74 coupons. I also don't think that the 5 coupons that were expired would have been that big a deal, especially considering the $5.00 Similac coupons were in there. I have traded with the particular trader many times over the years and have never felt as if she were bossy or had an attitude.

however unless she had paid via paypal she wouldn't have gotten the herbal essence either way. The other 12 that ended up expiring before you could mail the trade may not have been that important to her as well. She may have been satisfied paying 1.00 + postage for the remainder of the coupons (namely the (8) $5.00 similac coupons). A lot of people can use (or donate) the expireds. She evidently sent the money so she must have been satisfied with knowing there would be expired coupons, now she is out postage that it cost her to mail the trade, plus she is not getting the coupons she wanted.

First let me state I am not the slightest bit upset, but feel the need to point this out.
Yesterday, I was searching for the auction, you were talking about in this thread. Big surprise to me, I had WON an auction of yours last Friday. Honestly, I forgot I bid on it, but it had been 3 days, since it closed and I know you said for me to email you, in the thread. But honestly, most auction hosts Email the winner, at the close of the auction, on this site. I know I would have, had I not heard from me in three days. So yes, now some of the coupons in that auction will be expired, by the time I get them. Had you emailed me, I would have sent PP right away.

RS is not set up like Ebay, therefore people here do not automatically email you when they win an auction. So the next time you run an auction on these boards email the winner ASAP from the closing time of the auction. That way you cover YOUR end within the 1st 24 hours after the closing of the auction. If they have not emailed you back within 24 hours of your original email, email them AGAIN (once again, to cover YOURSELF). Kwim?
Also, just like with Ebay auctions ALWAYS list acceptable payment options and any terms and conditions of those payment options in the auction OP. IE: If paying via CC or stamps I have the right to hold the auction items until payment is received if applicable feedback has not previously been left for the winner. Ect.
Good luck on any future auctions.
