I have a large coffee can that I want to use as a planter and need ideas on how to decorate it so it looks cute/pretty and not like a coffee can LOL! It will be used for outside. Thank you.

Or a cute saying like "Welcome", "Moms garden" any design would look nice..And use paints that are for metal. Than after stenciling, I would use a clear outdoor primer and put it in on the outside & inside of can to keep it for rusting.

If it's metal, prime it with something to prevent rust first......if it's plastic, they make spray paint to stick to plastic. Another cool thing I've wanted to try (a throwback to my childhood crafts) is to do the masking tape pieces covered with stain....you rip random piecs of tape and stick them on at different angles, etc...make it look random. Then use shoe polish or stain on it, wipe off....then seal with a urethane or sealer. Looks like aged leather :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:52:21|05/02/2011|

6|3|Oh, and try different colored wood stains....they make wood stains in every color of the rainbow now! :) I have been wanting to try this with assorted shapes and sizes of vases and bottles I have....do them in a couple different colors and line them up on top of my kitchen cabinets...|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|19:05:38|05/02/2011|

7|1|OH! And Duck Tape has sheets out now....they are wild prints, really cool :) If the sheets are big enough you could wrap the cans in that....would be more expensive than a roll of masking tape and a pint of stain though, lol.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|19:10:03|05/02/2011|

8|2|Thanks Joy for all of the wonderful ideas. Didn't know that duct tape came in any other color other than gray. LOL|bikermomofboys|allibaker@comcast.net|21:04:22|05/02/2011|
