while homeschooling my kids. I have been trying for 3 years at holiday time to get seasonal/part-time work and I can't even get an interview.
Its very discouraging. If I had a piece of advice to stay-at-home moms it would be to keep some sort of part-time work, even just 10 hours. You never know when you need to go back to work.

found I really had to sell myself, look outside of the box, and pump up my applications with the skills I had being at home.Now I manage teens and college age kids, wow right up my alley, lol. I also wanted something that would work around my youngest school schedule, you will find if you work at a place that hires a lot of youth, they are more available to work during those hours that a mom would like to be home.

11|1|If you're a mom and love being around/helping kids (other than just your own...lol...) I HIGHLY recommend getting a job at a school - can't beat it - holidays & summers off, possibly year round pay (ymmv...some districts will set it up that way...) get paid to do what you love to do...great hours - home when your kids are home, etc. Even if you don't have the degrees to teach, just try to get your foot in the door as whatever they need, whether in the lunchroom, janitorial, etc. then when/if an aide position opens up, you'll already know everyone, apply for the aide position - they will send you to get the training required to become an aide...that's what I did and it's the best job I've ever had...I wouldn't trade it for any other secular job. When I was fresh out of high school I worked as a sub for the school district. They kept me busy and the pay was pretty good.
