A Mother’s Letter To Her Adult & “Loving” Child
I’ll only call you when I need money to pay my internet or cell phone bill even tho I blew all mine on cigarettes, going to movies or out to eat with my friends.
I’ll only call you when my car breaks down so you can set up the appt. with the mechanic for me & then too, pay the bill once it’s repaired.
I’ll only email you when I need money to pay my fines although I wasn’t responsible enough to obey the law.
I’ll only email you asking for more money when I blew all mine on partying with my friends.
I’ll only email you when I want new clothes & want you to buy them for me.
I’ll only call you when you haven’t replied back to my emails asking for more money.
I’ll only stop by your house long enough to drop off my tax papers so you can take them to the tax lady & oh, I’ll probably stop by again for 5 minutes when my tax papers are ready so you can go with me to the tax lady & pay the tax preparation fee she’ll charge me.
I’ll only call you when I need a hair cut so you can call the salon & set up the appt. for me, & then I suppose I’ll have to stop by your house again so you can go with me & pay for my hair cut.
I’ll only call you when I need groceries but I know you won’t mind despite that I spent all my money on video games or movies.
Oh, & I’ll be sure to call ahead before I stop by so you can transfer money into my bank acct. since I don’t have money for gas to get there either.
I might call & wish you a Happy Birthday but that’s IF I remember it since I might be too busy hanging out with my friends. Maybe someone else will call & remind me since it’s really not important enough for me to remember anyway.
When I do call tho, could you please not keep rambling on about stuff I don't care about? It's boring & I really can't talk long cuz my friends are waiting for me.
And son, when I ask you for money or something, could you please not tell me about the bills you have to pay? I really don’t want to listen to any sob stories. Oh, & please don't ask me any dumb questions like how I've been doing or whatever; just only listen to me when I want to gripe about my friends. Oh, & don't expect me to ask how you're doing or whatever either cuz I guess if I cared, I'd ask.
I know I don’t call or email you hardly at all but that’s ok because you love me & you’re my son so you’re obligated to put up with it.

I was sure tempted to when I wrote it yesterday. LOL
Since entitlement & sarcasm seem to be so much better understood by this generation (I think sarcasm is now a staple in the curriculum - "It ain't got class if it's not sass"), I purposely loaded it w/both on the off-chance I did send it. LOL
The "gimme, gimme", "me, me, me" gets a bit overwhelming at times.
I love my adult child to pieces but sometimes I just need to get some of the heavy stuff off my chest.
