There's so many ways of bartering.. It's a win win situation...
My tiny community has a Founder's Day Festival each June. My husband and I have been chosen to host a new event for the festival this year. We are having an Amazing Race competition. We are looking for suggestions for tasks the teams can perform. We are going to have the race for 2 days. Our community is way out in the country, has no library, post office, etc. Most of the small, local businesses will be closed during the festival. We have a saddle club and thought the teams could ride stick horses in barrel races. We also have a large ball park and thought we might hide objects there that must be found. We want one event to benefit the community. We're considering having the teams go to the local grocery store and purchase XX number of items (all different) and the total price not exceed XX dollars. The food would then have to be delivered to the Sharehouse where it will be given to needy families.
Personally. I have never seen a single episode of The Amazing Race. Fortunately, I have found a great site on the internet for templates, instructions, rules, etc. But, we really need ideas. If you have any ideas, please post them here. If we are able to use your suggestion in the race, I'll send you an envelope of coupons. Thanks in advance.

Not sure how to make it a competition, maybe the first team to fill one bag of trash per person? Or do they just go on the next event like a relay? Lol, not sure how it works, but if there is a park or playground that needs Spring cleaning, that might work??

Maybe you can ask people to donate coupons so you can get some cheap items in the store. It's kind of hard being so far apart but anything that could bring the community closer is great1
How about a list of services where people can cone together and barter
I know alot of people have horses but maybe some don't (barter for horse lessons)
Crocheting
cooking
cleaning
piano/violin/voice lessons
shopping for people
Since money is tight, I think this could work for your community.
I barter for voice lessons for my son in exchange for some of my stockpiling items. Now my girlfriend's sister wants stockpiling items and she'll give me a massage. lol
