this isn't a total gripe because in the end i got the "sales" price and was able to use my coupon but what an ordeal!
dollar general has nestle candy bars .65 each or 2 for $1 and i have nestle buy 2 save $1 coupons. seems simple enough to me. there was a nice lady in line in front of me and i asked her if she liked candy bars ... she did (who doesn't?!). asked her if she wanted to get 2 bars and have a coupon and get them for free or just for tax. WOW - the cashier rang them up and said she owed .31 - i told her i didn't think they rang up at 2/$1. they didn't and the cashier said they weren't on sale. i was standing RIGHT by the sale display so i glanced over to make sure the sale dates were current and the size was what was in the box (sometimes stockers set the incorrect sizes out). everything was current and the correct sizes. i pointed over to the display and said there's the sign. she wanted me to hand it to her and it was just a little peelie like sign so i peeled it off and handed it to her. she called a manager over and in the end they gave the lady her candy bars and .31 BACK?! then i'm up next. the manager said they couldn't honor the price. i wasn't trying to price match - it was a SALE PRICE that THEY were advertising. but it's the price DG has displayed right there and AGAIN i pointed to the display. then she got all calm and started "mam"ming me (i HATE that!) and explained that she couldn't give me money back. it's not money back, i tried to explain. yau'll have them on sale for a dollar and i have a dollar coupon. should be even just for taxes. she went ahead and rang me up (and it rang up correctly this time) but then wadded up the buy 2 for $1 sale price sign and threw it away!
WOW - why do some people try to make coupons so difficult???

I've talked to the manager, I've talked to corporate. There are these two women who will constantly complain about people using coupons saying they get migraines and they wish CVS would stop taking coupons and who do "these people" think they are "stealing" from CVS. This has been going on for weeks. Every Sunday. I suggested to the manager that perhaps he might want to spend a little time there on Sunday morning to hear it. They are not at all quiet. On the men's they said I could only buy 1 specific type, even though I did pick up another bottle and it rang the same price! I bought 6 Woman & 3 mens and the cashier commented wow that is a lot I think there is a limit, thank-god I brought the flyer and said back no there is not! I had to get rain checks today for the Men's and woman's and the cashier at first said no, you bought a lot...than the manger was there and I showed her the flyer and asked her and she gave me a rain check for both and did not give me a problem, thank-god!...geesh!!

Who cares how many you buy? I've heard excuses like "you can't buy 10 because we need to save some for other people" OK, wait a second. So, first of all you have a sale on something and only have ten of them? And then you really really give a damn whether 1 person buys 10 or 10 people buy 1? I don't think so. So then the thing is "oh we can't take 10 coupons because we won't get our money if only one person buys them all." WHAT? Again, the vendor doesn't care if 1 person buys 10 or 10 people buy 1. They just want their product bought. It's amazing the CRAP these people come up with.
If I asked for a raincheck 30 seconds ago and I didn't get one, then guess what... 30 seconds later I'm still going to want that freaking raincheck. Scary how stupid American's are becoming...
A couple weeks ago a cashier asked me what I was going to do with Softsoap body wash. Huh? Is there a second use for body wash? Is there something I'm missing? Can I use it in my coffee? Can I put it in my gas tank? Is it an aphrodisiac? Can it be bolded into a pot roast? What am I going to do with it? I overheard an incident at FoodMaxx where they had packages of those mini-butterfinger candy bars and coupons out for 2/$1 and price marked 2/$1 (so they'd be free). I realized they probably wouldn't let me take hordes of them so I wisely bought just 10. The lady behind me takes a BOX of them with enough coupons to get them all free. The cashier and manager stopped her saying she had to "save some for the rest of the customers". Made a big stink and embarrassed the lady.
This thinking just kills me! The store gets .08 for each coupon and its a sale. Who cares who buys it?

I have had this happen also in a dollar store and 2 thrift stores. The dollar store had these cute little cast orpn bells with roosters and horses and green tractors for a dollar and six cents tax. I didn't buy them all only 2 of each style. Got to the register and they said I could only have one. No signs or anything. They of course said you gotta leave some for someone else. I said there's plenty of them up there for someone else and what the hell does it matter who buys them. So fine. I said here. Take thw whole damn buggy and put it all back. Thanks for wasting my time and I never went back but hope he enjoyed putting that overflowing buggy back. Plenty for others. 
Another was years ago when I was losing weight and buying several different sizes in jeans at a time. Jeans were only 50 cents a pair and I do not change into anything in a fitting room. Too much like aerobics and just yucky to my thought process! For 50 cents if the look close that's good enough for me! Take them home and wash them and try them on when I get dressed daily. better with smaller doses of rejection if they don't fit! lol I had a loose buggy full and they said I couldn't have them all, So I walked out and said No but you can! Never went back there. They aren't they only 50 cent jeans in town!
Then there was another thrift store that went out of business. Gee I wonder why! They had a ongoing deal of fill a 30-33 gallon bag anything clothing all donated. $10 They had a warehouse full of stuff plus they sent stuff out of the country. And the warehouse only got fool. I owned a thrift store and bought trailer loads by the pound-no donations- when I was healthier and I know how fast it goes and they had enough for a lifetime! And I was a perfect customer, straightening racks as I went, rehanging things that were falling as I went, one time they had a rack giving way and I helped them fix it to not fall over. If a little kid even brushed it it would have been on his head since the weld was broken. I was a regular there and all but the one lady were very friendly to me and this happenned on the last day. I had three $10 bags, I always got 2 or 3 and they always seemed happy to get rid of it. Again I don't find trying on clothes fun so there would be a range of sizes close to me. Had too because I am 5 foot 10 with a 36 inch inseam and female plus size. And big feet. Yah I know, good luck! So this day she says I know you are doing something with these. Yah, No Sh(%! I pulled on my clothes and said ya, wearing them! She said no more ten dollar bags to you. Now realize I live to shop. I bought boxes of slow things that they would normally not even sell. I spent 100-150 dollars every week there. I had a whole buggy full of other goods to and this would be another typical decent size sale. when she said no more for me. I said no more for you. You won't be in business long treating people like that! In a few months she couldn't afford the rent there anymore and moved into a flea market booth. Didn't make it there either.
When my store was open I didn't even care if you came when I was closed. I was taking anyones money. Any time. No limits. Buy it all! I will get more. When I had an Army-Navy store a guy came about 10:30 at night and I was still there on the computer and it was a bad snow storm and cold and he pulled in with his truck and plow needing warm boots. I sold him a pair of Mickey Mouse Boots for $50. These are extreme cold weather boots worn in past years by the military and if you lost them you were charged $300 bucks. My ex brother in law had to pay when he lost his and didn't have any for turn in. Rated into the minus temps and waterproof. You could actually pour water in them and your feet would warm back up. I wouldn't get rid of my pair for 1000! This guy was one of my best customers after I did that. Why turn anyone away? The cashier that rang me up yesterday was not there, and we toldf the manager what happen. She remembered giving me rain checks and than saw I had the products in my cart, I told her yes...her cashier does not know what she is talking about the Men's nivea body wash is good on all they all ring up $3.88, not just the silver bottle they show in the ad.And that the cashier was giving me such a hassle on the Womans that is why I asked for a rain check. Bf reemed her good and reminded her that there is no limit posted and that I love to use my coupons and am not doing ANYTHING wrong! He also reminded her that not only does the store get there money back but they earn 8 cents per coupon...which she said yes they do! She said she would talk to the cashier and tell her not to hassle me going forward. So today I was able to use the rest of my coupons and get all my body wash.
