I got one of those hot wax at home hair remover kits and was trying to melt the wax in the microwave today. The instructions said 30 sec, but it was taking waaayyy more time than that. I kept checking and resetting it again every 30 sec and after 5 minutes, it was still hard as a rock. Well my husband was talking to me and I got distracted and tilted the jar (thinking it would still be hard) and hot wax poured all over my right hand. I yelled and went to fling it off my hand and it landed on my dog! Poor thing! He yelped but fortunately we were in the kitchen and hubby grabbed him and stuck him under the water in the sink. Ohh I feel so bad. Poor little guy. He is always right under foot. Anyway I got most of it off but there is a glob of hardened wax in his fur and skin so I guess I have to wait until his fur grows out and then cut it out. Ugh I have been sick over it all day, I feel so bad.

Any ideas on how to remove the glob of wax??

Just to warm it up enough to lightly pull the worst out.

Edit to add: the groomer in me just has to warn that if you do use a hairdryer, use a lower setting and don't let it on one spot for too long as it will be too hot for him.

Wax seems to cool really fast when it gets on your skin, so any discomfort he had was probably only for a second or two. I use tea lights a lot for a tart warmer, and if I get any on my finger, it cools and hardens within a second.

GET IT NICE AND COLD!!! NORMALLY, I'D SAY STICK THE WAX IN THE FREEZER BUT OL' POOCHY WON'T LIKE THAT TOO MUCH!
OR TRY DAWN SOAP TO LOOSEN IT IF PUTTING ICE ON IT DOESN'T HELP OR ISN'T TOLERABLE.

GOOD LUCK!!!! WAX IS A HORRIBLE THING!!!

6|2|Awww, I feel worse for you than the doggie (since he is ok)....I know I would feel awful too, but afterall it was an accident and I'm sure he knows you didnt do anything on purpose.....our doggies are so understanding and forgiving of our human clumsiness :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|15:58:39|04/18/2011|
